It used to be all the rage back in the ninties. A developer would put a little dig in their game at another game, usually from the same IP but with a different developer team. Things like finding Duke Nukem's corpse in Blood, or Lara Croft in Shadow Warrior, or even the 'It'll be done when its done' guy in Max Payne 2.
Had DNForever for about three days now, probably only gotten about halfway through - i doubt it has much more to go, i just get bored and stop playing to do something else before coming back to it - and the humour amuses me a little, but its the little digs they make that i find more funny.
For instance, at the start of one of the levels a soldier walks up to Duke and asks him if he'd like anything, like power armour. Duke responds in typical Duke fashion - "Power armour is for pussies". The kid then offers him some ammo.
Something like that - fine, no problem. Duke doesnt like to wear armour, maybe it chafes him or something.
But if you look behind the soldier into the van he's standing outside of, you can see a set of MJOLNIR armour from HALO sitting in the back.
I laughed my balls off.
There's a few others things floating around in the game, probably too incosequential for you guys to care about, but basically, i wanna know if there are still things like this happening in games these days, and if you recognise them, and if you'd like to see this kinda stuff happening more often. For example, if Solid Snake was sneaking through a vent and came across a crowbar, or if Lara Croft was searching through some ruins in Greece and found the Blades of Chaos.
