...For wearing a Zero Punctuation t-shirt. Today in psychology, the teacher happened to notice the "Pants-on-Head RETARDED" portion of the shirt, called me over, verbally kicked the shit out of me, stating it's a politically incorrect shirt, especially in this day and age, and it kinda says something about me, and then sent me to administration, where I am suspended for three days.

Now, I'm no expert, but I think guys who wear their pants below their ass and girls with low cut shirts are far more serious a dress code violation than a shirt that says "retarded". For one, simply because the shirt says "retarded", doesn't mean it's insulting someone. Naturally, retard means the slow progression of something. For two, it's not pointed at any specific someone. For three, it's freedom of expression, well documented in the constitution. It's not advocating illegal activity, it's not a form of indecent exposure, it's just words on a yellow shirt.

Does anyone agree that this is total bullshit and chips?

Sort of. While some may think it is nothing, there are some kids that might get affected by something as meaningless as that, and, as a teacher, it is their job to make sure it doesn't happen. Although, I normally wore shirts with beer advertisements and the word hell on it, and I never got in trouble.

I do. Go to the appeals board and get that prof shitkicked by them. You're fully entitled to argue for your rights in this case.

Well, it's psychology, so since your shirt was kind of displaying a mental condition I think he should congratulate you. Like when my science went on and on about proton packs when I wore my ghostbusters shirt.

In my school we get in trouble if we wear anything other than brown or black leather shoes, if our tie is too low, or if our shirt it tucked out.

Count yourself lucky.

It's clearly not a reference to medically retarded, just being a fucking idiot. Go appeal that shit, man.

You are seriously complaining?

They have never seen ZP, they don't get the joke and don't realise that it isn't serious.

Retarded is used as an insult, anybody who hasn't seen ZP is going to assume you mean it that way. Of course they are going to react that way and you should have been smart enough to realise it.

Personally I think anyone dumb enough to wear something like that deserves the bollocking for it.

Unless it's a shirt that would be a 'distraction to the class', the teacher shouldn't have made a fuss over it in front of other students and really should have been confronted by his superiors about his outburst. There is no excuse for that teachers behavior, no matter how upset it might have made him.
Honestly, if he was that offended by the shirt he could have asked you to wear it in-side out during his class.

The teacher sounds like he has a real bug up his ass.

Suspended for 3 days seems a tad bit harsh, my school just gave you a generic Pepsi t-shirt to were over it. I'm with the people who say appeal.

Retarded, on its own, describes the slow growth of something. Ignorant people use it as an insult. The shirt doesn't poke fun at any specific person, therefore there is no real reason I should be getting into any amount of trouble for it.

I don't think retarded kids care in fact they'd probably find it quite amusing.

Be grateful that you can even wear T-shirts to school I have to wear a collared shirt, tucked in, in Florida (It gets HOT AS BALLS!!). Teachers really need to worry less about crap like that and focus on teaching, unless a kid is wearing a shirt that says "I love Hitler!"

I don't necessarily disagree with them saying it's inappropriate for school, but three day suspension? How about, I dunno, just taking you aside and asking you not to wear it again? Or (if possible) letting you go home (or to the gym) and change?

I don't see why you got done for that. It wasn't directed at anyone.
Teachers are harsh. Also, who said yes on the poll?
