Up here in the frozen wastes of northern New York, we call it soda. No, not Albany, not Syracuse, real Northern NY, way up a stones throw from Canada in the Adirondack mountains.

In London it's generally soft drink, more commonly requested brand specifically. In parts of the north it's pop, which grinds on my last nerve for some reason. In Scotland it's IR'N BRUUUUUUUUU

Fizzy drink, or pop are the only things I've ever called them. I think pop was what most people around me called it growing up, but fizzy is a better word to say :p

Oh, or I call it by brand. Never soda though.

I usually call it either soda or just it's brand name depending on what we're talking about here in California.

But if i had to call it by an English name, then i would probably call it Soda.

I don't call it by any of those names anymore. I drink it so rarely that when I refer to it, I tend to refer to a specific brand.

Other, I call it "Fizzy drink". I don't understand why people call fizzy drinks "soda", as soda is a type of fizzy drink. That'd be kinda like calling all hot drinks "tea".

Brazil here, and we have our own completely unrelated name for it. It's just one word but it means refreshing drink. In english I go with soda as well.

PS - Pepsi ftw

Well generally I either say "fizzy drinks" or "Coke or, y'know, something..."

I never got why people called it "pop"...

It's coke. If it's sprite, it's still a coke, if it's a Pepsi, its still a coke. If it's a Dr. Pepper, still a coke.

It's a coke.
Yup it's all coke.

I'm from Toronto, Ontario and I say pop almost always.

People here generally say pop unless they're being really formal, then they say "soft drink".

Where I come from (western US, btw), we call the drink by its actual name unless we're referring to them as a whole, in which case we call it soda. Unless I go to the midwest or the east coast, I never hear otherwise.

You should be addicted to Coke! No, not that Coke. No, not that Coke, either. Yes, I mean Vanilla Coke. Delicious stuff, that.
I was heartbroken when they discontinued that in Ireland...I loved it almost as much as Dr Pepper, perhaps more...damn you for making me remember it!
They've nearly discontinued it here. It's only available in 12-packs now. :{ *wishes I could get Vanilla Coke without having to buy a whole damn 12-pack*

I usually just call it whatever the brand name is. But talking about the type of drink (which happens rarely) I say 'fizzy drinks'.
