Poll: Space Program is it worth it

Is a space program worth the money that we pour into them if so why or why not?
Where do you think they should go now.

I am basing this out of America so it is a little biased I think that our NASA program is under funded and we could be spending more money on it to keep it working rather then killing it

How about the moon program in America which is on the chopping blocks good bad ?

I think we should worry about Earth before we start to worry about outer space.

EDIT: On reflection, there are some things in outer space that may help mankind, Like the large amounts of Hydrogen 3 on the moon for example, however for the time being I think the problems on Earth like famines, and earthquakes not to mention problems in the USA (Which I think spends the most money on it's space program) like education, and other things that need more money are more pressing.

We are already at war. Thats why we need to nuild ont he space program, build the moon base and colonise mars. We have ftl ships with lasers and stuff, but not enough. We are barely holding them off

The space program in itself is worthwhile, we'll likely need to be able to travel in space at some point, and that'll never happen if we don't research it.

But during a recession like this, perhaps we can afford to pull some funding.
