So, who do you consider to be Spider-Man's arch-nemesis?

Unlike most heroes who have an ultimate villain, Spidey has shifted his animosity and major foe list depending on the times. But who do you think is ultimately the all-time Spider-Man bad guy?

The three main choices are:

The Green Goblin- This guy was the first main Spider-Man villain to royally screw him over. He was not only responsible for Gwen's death, he made Spider-Man's life a living hell for as long as he was on the scene, a legacy he passed to his son Harry and led to his death as well. Norman was left out of the picture for decades after he died, and it took a while to bring him back, during which he obviously lost protagonism, but his semi-recent return made sure he's nastier than ever.

Doctor Octopus- After Norman's death, Doc Ock stepped in the role of Spider-Man's main foe. The good doctor was involved in a series of plots to kill Spider-Man, and was overall a bigger threat than Norman ever was, both physicaly and in terms of greater ambitions. From marrying Aunt May to kidnapping Mary Jane, he carried on as Spidey's nemesis, until...

Venom- The anti-Spidey, in a way. A lot of Spider-Man's strengths while simultaneously able to meet the hero toe-to-toe. He not only knows Spider-Man's secret identity, but he's also seen by Spidey as being created by his own folly during the Secret Wars and infecting an innocent man, Eddie Brock. He is the mirror, twisted image of Spider-Man, and although Brock as moved on, the symbiote menace has only grown larger.

And then there are all the others who I may not be giving enough credit to. Feel free to weigh in.

So... who do you think deserves the title of Spidey's main foe?

Norman was an unthreat until he found out who Peter was and even then he lost his memory like 3 times, when he finally did some real damage he killed himself soon after. Everything else is just retroactive villain heaped onto him and modern strategist stuff that doesn't fit the classic character.

Venom started out as the biggest physical threat in Spider-Man's rouge's gallery, but he slipped into anti-hero territory and when someone new got his suit(Scorpion) he was mostly a joke.

Doc Ock was one of Spider-Man's first foes and one of his most prominent ones. Stuff like the Sinister Six owes it's existence to his brilliance. Consistently a match for Spider-Man in all regards the only thing that kept Ock from taking on Spider-Man in the personal way Norman and Brock have is his lack of knowledge on Peter Parker being Spider-Man. Also he was around before Green Goblin and always treated as a huge threat(***** slapping Parker out a window in their first encounter).

Ock is clearly the best nemesis because he's the most consistently dangerous to Spider-Man.
