Poll: Star wars movies - in which order to watch them?

Okay, here's my story: Turns out, a total of (at least!) 5 of my friends
haven't seen *any* of the star wars movies whatsoever (I'm talking the two
episode 4-5-6, 1-2-3 trilogies here)... Quite flabbergasted, as I was (those
movies had played a central role in my childhood, it seemed impossible to me
-until just recently - for someone not to have seen them), we decided to make
a big star-wars-marathon next month, watching them all on a single day (or two,
like those kinds of things usually end up).
Now, popcorn is bought, TV-screen set up and everything, but one little issue
is still blowing my mind, trivial as it might be:
In which order to watch those goddarn movies?
...they have the little number thingies (I, II, III...) on them for a reason, but
then again - would the experience be the same if you saw the movies in an order
different from that we (probably?) all had the pleasure to see them in?

There's a ton of arguments (a ridiculous amount for such a topic) in favor of or
against either variant, let me here some of your opinions/suggestion!

There are not a lot of movie series like this with so many good parts, so I'd say go in order regardless of how good each one is.

Ask them perhaps? I'd say 4 5 6 1 2 3 though. It'll make the "I am your father" much more memorable for them.

Well first you should watch the first movie. That's the one where Luke is found on the desert planet and they introduce us to all the characters.
After that you should watch the second movie in the trilogy. I don't want to spoil it but it is the darkest and in my opinion the best of the movies.
Then you should watch the third movie, where the trilogy comes to an end.

Yes, after watching all THREE starwars movies, you will be in a good place.

On second thought, just do 4-5-6, don't even bother continuing with 1-2-3. Not worth your time.
Quit whining, he said he likes them all, so all you are doing is annoying everyone.

You are totally forgetting the punchlines in 4 5 6. if you watch 1 2 3 first then they will be dead...

I haven't actually seen the first trilogy yet... (thats 4,5 and 6), so I guess I'll be watching them in the 'right' order, so to speak.

(I guess my nerd-lisence is going to be revoked now... D':)

actually, I'm almost feeling the same way...
but for the sake of entirety (and entertainment, you can't tell me the newer movies aren't at least entertaining), it's going to be all of them... oh, were such hardcore-movie-watchers, now aren't we ? ; )

keep coming those opinions, a decision is forming!

I'd watch them in 4-5-6-1-2-3. It would take the total surprise out of the Original Trilogy. It's a duh moment when Vader tells Luke he's his father then. Show them the original versions too, not the Special edition. Han shoots first damnit!

I think it depends on what you want to get out of it. If you watch the old trilogy first and then the original, it's more Lukes Story and Anakin's story. If you watch them from 1-6, it's more the Rise and Fall of Darth Vader.

Myself though, Episode 3 was the only one out of the pre-trilogy I really enjoyed. The ending still makes my jaw drop, with the music during the Yoda vs. Sidious scene. Anakin vs. Obi Wan can take a flying leap since Anakan bought it like a *****.(oops, <- Spoiler!)

You can have balls and gold bars, or you can have gold bars and balls.

Or you could get really drunk and head down to that one part of the park where all the cheese-smelling cosplayers hang out and stare at them for an hour.

Either one works just as well.

Definitely this.

Most of us are born with this knowledge. Anyone who somehow missed it should not be denied the rare privilege of experiencing that plot twist with no idea of what's about to happen.

Star Wars, then Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, then Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
