Poll: Star Wars to be made into a sitcom

I kid you not, the classic movie series (Well episodes 4,5 and 6 anyway) is being adapted to the small screen as an animated sitcom. It was thought to be a April Fools joke, but it has been confirmed that production has started on the series, and the creators of Robot Chicken have been drafted in to be 'creative consultants'

It is a bit slim on details at the moment but I know I'll be keeping an eye on this. So what are your thoughts on this?

Honestly I think that it sounds bloody hideous. Not quite as bad as the "Star Wars Babies" animation for pre-schoolers being planned.

Lucas has it the bottom of the barrel but is still scraping. It is very hard to sustain an interest in Star Wars with one chronic notion after another being tabled.

I had a feeling people would be taking this negativly as soon as I saw the poll. While I'm all for there being a creation of a Star Wars live action television series, a sitcom on the other hand is an idea I'm not too crazy about.

I'm so tired of the sitcom genre and it generally doesn't work with science fiction (I'll conceed that there are exceptions to this rule, but there always are) Futurama is supposed to be a sitcom but there are so many big set pieces that its almost an action/drama.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the idea, but if it ends up being made you can bet your ass I'm still going to watch it.

Just because it works for Red Dwarf doesn't mean it will do it for Star Wars.
