While Dragonball Z was still being aired on T.V., A Dragonball movie had never crossed my mind, but when the movie was announced, I was genuinely excited. After seeing how well "Harry Potter's" world was recreated in the films, I kept wondering if they could do the same with Dragonball and make it look as over the top as the animated series was...

No more wondering after I saw the trailer, I realized that the producers didn't even try to get it close.

some time later, I heard that a Street Fighter movie was being made, with Chun Li as the main character, without Ryu or Ken. At first I thought this was an awful idea, but I realized a Street Fighter film with Ryu and Ken as the main protagonists would just be fan service, and bait for fanboys. Using Chun Li as a main character was unexpected and interesting to me and I thought something really creative was going to happen with this film.

When I heard which actors would be playing the video game characters, I was even more interested. In my opinion they casted each actor perfectly, especially with that lanky womanly looking guy from the Black Eyed Peas playing Vega. then I saw the trailer...

As with the Dragonball trailer, I realized that with the volume turned down, I wouldn't even think the trailer had anything to do with the franchise it was based upon. M. Bison wears a suit, not even a red suit, "Chun Li" even uses the same smokey blast attack Goku used in the Dragonball trailer. Nothing screams "Street Fighter" at all, Unless Balrog's special move in the game had always been using a rocket launcher.

So I ask, am I just imagining the similarities between the Dragonball trailer and the Street Fighter movie? Will the Street Fighter movie be as bad as the Dragonball movie inevitably will be?

If that hideous Jean-Claude Van Damme movie didn't destroy the Street Fighter franchise, then no movie will. Likewise with DBZ. Live-action hollywood movies have little impact, because the fanbase go in with the expectation of them sucking from the outset.

Well my feelings on the DB movie have been posted all over the place, it will suck, I will see it, and I expect it could be the first film that I walk out on.

Live action DBZ =(. I don't think the producers realized how unreal the DBZ universe is. Maybe thought it would be an easy money raker?
