I have been following Sam & Dean fighting the good fight for five seasons now. I realize that the show is already onto season 7, but that's not really important to me. After season 5 concluded I felt like this is a great place to stop. Sam jumped into the pit with Lucifer and Michael (thus bringing the Apocalypse to a screeching halt), while Dean went on to live what looked like a more-or-less happy life. Castiel got promoted...presumably by God...to Heaven's caretaker. Bobby didn't die.
Good stuff all around, and I though the fifth season was well worth the 20-odd euros I paid for it. Now, the big question is: should I stop here? Erik Kripke got his story line wrapped up, and did a fantastic job of it. I know a lot of tv-series have this problem of continuing past where they should have simply been concluded. For example, I happily watched the first three seasons of Heroes, and I thought the third season was a perfectly good closing to a nice story arch. Of course, I also think whoever wrote the last 10 - 15 minutes of the final episode of season three should have their head examined. Everything was wrapped up nicely, the bad guy was dead. The story arch was done. Well done. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. And then the show's writers f***ed it all up in the last few minutes of the final episode. * sigh *
