if you had mastery of the force, would you follow the light side or dark? i have asked dozens of people this and not a single person has opted for the light side, and why would they? they forbid you from learning any cool skills or even doing anything cool with your boring skills! Answer the poll and explain your reasoning

i would totally be on the dark side. fear, anger and passion are what make us human and there's no shame in relying on them for strength, and you wouldn't HAVE to go around killing kids and throttling your girlfriends, also, two words for anyone who thinks light side- LIGHTNING HANDS!

I personally don't want to rot away and be betrayed by some young upstart. If I had the option I'd go strong in the force but not a force wielder. Basically I'd be like Han Solo where the force has a boner for me and I roll nat 20's on shit while my enemies roll 1's.

Oh god, dark. Everything leads to dark. Passion? Dark. Love? Dark. Ambition? Dark. Excitement? Dark.

Jedi are the plain oatmeal of heroes.

On one side the dark side gives more freedom, you can do whatever the fuck you wish.

However it also has side effects like: Becoming genre blind, becoming stupid, getting stabbed by an apprentice, getting eaten away, losing body parts.

On the other side of the spectrum the light side is restricted heavily in what you can do.

However it also tends to protect people, heal people, and you can love if your careful.

Meh, I like helping people and I like my body parts, I'll stick with light side.

Neither. I had this kind of chat with a star wars loving friend of mine, and he classified me as a "rogue". Someone belonging to neither.

And to anyone who claims that you CAN'T be neither...That you HAVE to be either light or dark...Might I remind you that "only a sith deal in absolutes?".

I would still hold on to my passions and loves and dislikes. But I would not abuse these powers or consider myself above everyone else. I would definitely help the light side over the dark side (I mean, look at the crap the dark side guys keep pulling!), at least, I would if the jedi would accept my stance on life. Which they probably wouldn't, knowing them. >_>

Oh, and if you're telling me that I'm evil just because I happen to like flinging lightning from my hands.......Come on, really? That's just shallow.

So Morgan Katarn, (Kyle Katarn's Dad), basically? That actually sounds like a pretty good plan of action. I definitely would not want to a dark sider, because the downsides outweigh all of the good, but the light side is also pretty heavily restricted. From what I've seen from the EU, untrained Jedi are still a cut above everyone aside from trained Jedi, and they don't have to worry about falling to the dark side, so that would be pretty tempting. Especially if we're talking Galactic Civil War era, when your options are pretty much either to go willingly to the dark side, or to be ruthlessly hunted down by it if you have any light side training.

Code of the Sith
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
Code of the Jedi
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
(There is no chaos, there is harmony.)(*)
There is no death, there is the Force.
I, on a philosophical level, agree with the Sith and the power of emotions. I don't believe in microwaving people with force lighting because they displease you, but I do believe that the dark side is the way to go.

Yeah, if you look at all the non-Force wielding badasses in Star Wars they are all pretty much immortal and are rarely defeated by Jedi/Sith. Also, it is a common occurance that the Force will abandon a Jedi/Sith at a key moment or favor someone else in the conflict, leaving them to automatically fail as they are pretty much completely helpless without the force. Kreia describes exactly what I am talking about near the beginning of Kotor II.

Definitely light... More choice in lightsaber colours... :p

Seriously though, I am always good in games, I like the added challenge of making the right choices morally vs what is good for me, so I would do the same in real life if it were real!

I also like the thought of being a member of some galactic police/army! Awesome!

Sorry but I'm on the light side. I don't want to loose my emotion easily due just because someone make a rude comment or disagree with me. Beside being one the light side I do get to use force speed or do Sith can use it aswell? (If that is the case what exclusive ability that only a Jedi can use?)

Dark. One reason: It's quicker and easier. Yoda says that himself.

If the powers take hours of meditation a day to maintain, I'm going to lose them, that's pretty much inevitable. If my powers just run on passion? I will never be stopped.

I'd go with dark side powers.

Because they get lightning. I wouldn't even need a lightsaber or any other force powers, I just want lightning.

Light side, but New Jedi Order style. Far less strict about things, but still morally good. Also, I get to study under (older and less whiny, as well as far more badass) Luke Skywalker.

I'd go with neither, since the Dark side seems to be full of twats and the light side are just "better behaved twats".

Really... either be evil, or an emotionless drone, those are the options?

Personally: NON-JEDI Light Side. A Force-wielder not afraid to get things done, but with a healthy respect for freedom and justice, but not shackled to a monastic order that says lightning fingers is always immoral even if I'm defending younglings.

Sith seems to have really bad luck with NOT having limbs cut off and being impaled.

So I'll go with psychic powers over lightning.
