People think it's great?

I don't think that anyone thinks this movie is great so much as they find the cultural experience of watching the movie in a crowded theater at midnight when they were in college to be great. It's a lot like a sporting event or church. The actual event is not all that but you get carried along with the group experience and this makes it strike a stronger chord that it would on it's own merits.

I think it's a seventies thing: back when going to the movies was an event and glam-rock's excess was equivalent to the second-world experience that we get playing video games. IE I think it's more about dressing up and throwing toast at the screen then it is about the movie, although it's still a pretty rad movie on its own terms.

Do you think its as great as so many people think it is?
You can't really TRULY appreciate it until you go to a Midnight Showing. It's so much fun and it's surprisingly freeing.

I went dressed as Frank. Furter, basically in drag. Anyway, to be certain I could go outside with drag clothing on, I visited my friend Mr. Daniels and Mr. Smirnoff. When I got to the showing I was one of two Frank. Furters there, and my costume was better. EVERYONE wanted a photo with me. Then the movie began and EVERYONE was into it.

I expected 30-50% to join in, the rest to shyly watch the film. But no, 100% joined in. We ran to the front and did the Time Warp, we shouted at the screen, we threw stuff at the screen and just had the most fun one could have at a movie.

This october I'm going to all 5 screenings.

It's a good film, a bit cheesey and a little overrated as a cilt classic. But it is good.

I think it's one of those films which you'll only appreciate if at some point in your life you've dressed up in a suspender belt and eyeliner, packed your bag with lighters, toast, rice, playing cards and water pistols, and gone down to the theatre to watch it live. Once you've done that, you'll understand the fuss better.

That could make Escapism UK a lot more interesting....

I think it was a great movie, I stkll need to go to my first midnight showing.
I'm just very disappointed taht last I hear MTV is remaking it into movie, and it is most likely going to be a TV-movie.

I love it. The sing a long and theatre productions were great. I can't really say since I'm biased as hell towards it, but yeah, I think it deserves the praise.

I'm dearly hoping that that movie doesn't see the light of day.
