I'm absolutely loving ME2. The combat is sooo much fun, and the story and characters are incredible as well. I especially love the appearances of characters and references to events from the first game. The Mass Effect franchise is starting to rival Star Wars for awesomeness.

I agree with the complaints about adding finite ammo to the weapons - the overheat system in the first game never bothered me. Once you got good heat sink upgrades, you barely even noticed the cooldown.

Now, let me get this straight - can you land on any of the planets aside from the main storyline ones? Like, when I downloaded the Normandy crash site add-on, I had to scan the planet until I found the "anomaly", and then I could land. Can I find anomalies on other planets and then land on them, or can you only extract minerals?

Truth. They're basically space zombies. And cover is useless against them. There's no hiding... *hugs knees and rocks back and forth*

Hell yeah it's damn worth it. If you haven't played this masterpiece, you might as well be dead.

This game made me cry, laugh, feel regret and feel triumph. I thought about it even when I wasn't playing it.

Undoubtedly the best game I've ever played.

Too bad it has an end. The feeling I had when the credits rolled was a mix of awe, triumph and sadness. Even though I got the best ending possible, I was still depressed. All good things must come to an end.
Yes! The suicide mission was filled with tension. It was a great gaming experience. Must.. start..another..playthrough!
Question for anyone: I just completed playthrough with all loyalties and now i'm starting an Infiltrator. What power should I give him from the loyalties? I can't decide what would be most helpfull.

One of my favorite parts was the game salesman on the citadel. He was just a hilarious satire machine. A lot of the background dialog was hilarious.
But I've honestly never finished such a long game in such a short period of time. I've had the game for three days and beat it in 30 hours. Every time I picked it up, I just couldn't stop playing it. Could this be the best game evar?

Yes you can. EDI will notify you when some planets have anomalies, and scanning them causes you to locate the anomalies. You can then land on these planets to investigate. They are in the game, but you need to look for them. Usually in star systems found by flying out of main ones.

Well I think slam is the best. It's good crowd control as it can incapacitate someone and has a quick recharge. Also, it's fucking awesome. It's like a psychic uppercut. I discovered that using slam on husks can hurl them into the ground with so much force that their legs penetrate the ground. It's ridiculous.

Which is actually the most useful? Hell if I know.

For me it definitely is one of them. Definitely one of the best stories and endings I have ever experienced in a game. BioWare really outdid themselves with this one.

I stopped fearing them the moment I realized Throw instant killed them and I had a 2,5 second cooldown on it. From then on out it was more akin to Army of Darkness in Space with Husks flying left and right while Shepard stood still, just flinging biotics at her assailants.

I started an Infiltrator for my 2nd playthrough as well. I went with Armor-Piercing Ammo as my bonus, since Disruptor takes care of Shields and Mechs. I figured AP ammo for organics and disruptor for mechs, so I always have an ammo type that works really well. I've heard a lot of good things about Reave and Warp Ammo as well.

Zombies in general freak me out. I could barely play Dead Rising (stop laughing). There's just something deeply disturbing about them to me.

Also, I just got stuck in a wall on Techonka (sp?). Grr.

I have just one thing to vent.

Conrad, WTF are you doing. Seriously. And don't lie to me, I know I didn't put a gun in your face. I know because I was given the choice the day before finishing ME1.

Yeah, I never threatened Conrad either, and I got the same dialogue.

Though I WAS sorely tempted to shoot him in the foot this time around. I settled for the head-butt.

Seriously, when I first encountered him in ME1, I thought he was trying to hustle me: He got a voice print of me, a signature, and then a picture of me brandishing my gun. I thought, "If this ass frames me for some crime, he is gonna die.". Then he shows up in ME2, and I swear, if he's in the third game, it better be because he takes a bullet for me in some stupid, noble gesture. And I am playing a Paragon BTW.

I do like the background conversations though. The Salarian bachelor party and the Asari/Turian couple buying fish are some of my favourites.

And Sir Issac Newton IS THE DEADLIEST son-of-a-***** in space!

The only problem I have with this game, besides the occasional glitch, is the weapons and armor. Seriously, where did it go? BioWare better have some awesome DLC lined up, and I hope that the collector weapon and armor will be up there relatively soon. The first game had a crapload of equipment. This one has barely any. I personally would rather have more loot than a few guns, some of which might not even be found.

That confused me as well. I was nice to Conrad during all of Mass Effect, then he comes and says I was a jerk to him.

While it may seem at first glance that they got rid of a ton of weapons and armor, they really didn't. All they did was instead of flood you inventory with rifles, pistols, and suits of armor that would be useless an about an hour, was condense it in the form of upgrades. Really they are more efficient than having to micro manage and turn half your inventory into omnigel.

In ME1 you pretty much always got the same gun but with minor stats differing, while in ME2 you find upgrades that are univeraly applied. The gradual gear stat progression through these upgrades makes gear managment less of a hassel without taking anything out of the game at all. The same applies for the skill trees as well.

Really people are complaining about it being "dumbed down" when it hasn't, it's just been refined to a more practical state.

I object to a lack of inventory contributing to my lack of money.

I made a fortune off of selling to the doctor and buying back from the Volus. It was the only way to afford any kind of decent gear early to mid game.

If by practical you mean barely gave you any armor and weapons, then I agree.

I figured they split the attachments from the first game into the ammo powers and the upgrades. I'd like to be able to choose from more than 3 different looking weapons. Do I want a more accurate, slightly less powerful assault rifle(pistol, etc), or one that has the spread of a wide choke shotgun but can kill an enemy in just a few hits? I liked having the loot, but ME 1 went kind of overboard. I don't mind the upgrade system, but I would like more models, at the very least.

And armor. I beat the game once, and going back to the stores on the second playthrough, I found nothing. Literally nothing. I expected there to be some more armor or something at all. Nope. I really hope Bioware give us more armor and weapons in the next DLC.

And speaking of DLC, the Zaeed one, which promises new weapons, netted me a total of one (1) heavy weapon that I will never use. I will never be close enough to an enemy to warrant a flamethrower.

I think that ME2 has spawned what may be a new potential meme.

The phrase "I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions" coupled with extremely violent or brutal actions. Yes? No? Maybe?

What Conrads back? Where is he?
He's in the bar on the Asari planet, think it's called Illuminum.
He may only appear if you treated him badly in the first one though.

My only real complaint with this game is the minimal character interaction.
Characters rarely talk to you about anything substanstial after a mission, The only one that does is Joker.
While in the field I think theres only one case of party interaction, where Garrus and Tali talk about elevators and I'm thinking that was a one off as it hasnt happend since.
While on loyality missions the 3rd party member might as well not be there as they never say anything except for a few exceptions (Tali on legions Loyalty)

If they'd gotten that right I'd say it was damn near perfect game.

Just finished it, damn that was excellent. Damn fun to play, great characters and great interactive storytelling. So great in so many ways.

Well, ME2 has got GOTY discussion done early.

It's one of the first games which has honestly made me feel for the characters, and feel like my choices really did have an effect.

When the squadmates die, I was trying to find some rationalisation, blaming the game etc, and wondered if I should start a new save where I could save everyone, when I suddenly realised that that was the point of the new choice system Bioware stuck in. In real life there are no takebacks, and you don't know if a choice you make now will affect you further down the line, and that's exactly what they've managed.
