Since there are so many short forum games and only a handful of forum RPG's and amongst them only a handful that are actually active with regular posters, I was wondering if new RPG's should have a certain genre to entice players to post more often and such.

Yes, I was thinking of making an RPG (my first one) but I wanted to give it some time before chucking another one in here and I had no idea what type of genre works well nowadays.So for advice;

We've got quite a few of these threads that have popped up in the last few days, just so you know.

My vote would go towards Fantasy/Quest. They always seem to do fairly well, since it's an easy, well-known genre and therefore you can interact with things much more efficiently.

I agree. Fantasy is easier but not by much I suppose. I think everything comes down to how you plan out the RP. Good luck with the RP.

I'd like to see an RPG out and about that deals with the wars being waged in modern-day society. Mainly because right now I'm a bit more into shooters than the fantasy based games.

RPG is a genre for video games. What we do here is role-playing, or for short, RP'ing. There are more RP's going on right now than there has ever been. More would be hard pressed to receive attention and interest. That only means you can post it and gather interest, however, as it would probably take some time for it to get enough participants. Personally, I don't think we need more RP's right now. Too many only serves to clog up the forum, and promotes quantity over quality, sadly, both in RP's and in posts.

On topic, fantasy usually does best and is what I generally enjoy the most.
