Like a giddy school girl yesterday I downloaded the demo. Right before I went to work. God through work and jumped right into it. Previously I was cautiously optimistic. Being a huge transformers fan, but giant hater of movie games. I needed this to be good. At least decent. The demo did put most of my fears to rest.

Things I liked
transforming felt organic,a fantastic way to replace sprinting
Cloaking lasts forever, long enough to do some serious sneaking around.
Different classes of grenades
Enclosed environment (at least the map in the demo) keep the soon to be flyers under control

Things I didn't like
Whirlwind feels really op in the 2 class environment.
Scout's guns seem bad

I only had time to play one round but it was surprisingly good. I think this game has quite a bit of potential.

It's not great...

The best Transformers game still belongs to the Armada one on the ps2.

have to disagree about the scouts weapon, it basically fills the shotgun role, but then I've always been good at the close combat weapons, but if you combine it with the cloak and the surprise attack ability it really does tear into people

I can't seem to fix the picture myself but its not a video so you don't want to use the tag.

OT: I had no idea the demo was coming out. [small]runs over to the xbox and starts downloading asap[/small]

Very agreed! Although there was no reason to not play optimus in that one. Not that I would play anyone else though.

I think part of the problem I'm having with it is the whirlwind ability. Where if I don't kill soldiers real quick they just fire it up and well... that's not a good thing. Seems like I get waxed in one hit from it.

Hit them from behind just outside whirlwind range, if they survive long enough to activate it, turn at least 90 degrees, transform and retreat.

that and it actually has a surprisingly high rate of fire if you hold down the button (something I don't normally do for shotguns) but it's a scout class, your meant to be more mobile and attacks should be quick if your going to win them, I've even seen very effective scouts using melee attacks.

My friend had the tactic I described used against him very effectively.

EDIT: I think he had it started with a melee attack from cloaked once too

Sorry pal, gonna have to disagree with you on that. Everyone knows the best TF game ever was on the C 64. Video games on cassette tape FTW! As for the demo, I enjoyed it when I wasn't dying horribly. The transformations are super fast and the robot mode controls feel good. I like how the weapons meld with your arm when picked up, that's a nice little touch. My only real complaint is the vehicle mode controls feel a little off sometimes; I've bounced off alot of corners and walls especially in narrow spots and corridors. Perhaps it's something I can get better at with more practice.

I like it. The game was always a buy for me anyway, ever since I saw the first gameplay trailers, but the demo has convinced me that the developers were not just spouting crap when they said they were trying to do the franchise justice.

It's nice to see High Moon didn't try to reinvent the wheel on this one, looking to tried and tested gameplay methods to build their game around (Gears of War controls and ranged combat, multiplayer systems from Team Fortress 2 and Modern Warfare 2, ...). The result is a multiplaer experience which feels very balanced to me, with both currently available classes having their own unique advantages and drawbacks. Also, the transformations are not just a gimmick, and by adding weapons to the bots' vehicle modes the developers ensured that the combat is both constant and very fast-paced. The levelling system provides ample opportunities for customization (at least once the full game is released), the controls are all tight and responsive, and both serious combat and dicking around with your available moves are loads of fun.

Now all that remains to be seen is how the other classes work, how well the co-op system functions, and the kind of quality that went into the writing of the story and dialogue. I'm already sold on everything else.

I'm really enjoying it. The netcode seems a bit shaky to me. I get dropped by hosts quite a lot but I've been doing pretty well. Last game I played I managed to get 27 kills out of my team's 40. Big fan of the soldier class but I'd love to play as a Scientist (jet) in the full game. Transforming is lovely.
