Poll: Tupac or Biggie?

So a few of my friends and I were arguing as to who was the better rapper, Tupac or Biggie Smalls, and we argued into a stalemate, so I'm leaving the fate of the argument in the hands of the wise people of the Escapist.

Who's the better rapper? Tupac or Biggie?

Tupac absolutley no question. Tupac has some really poetic stuff whilst Biggie's stuff (that I have heard) tends to be a bit more shallow. Plus Biggie sounds fat which is always a turn off. Expect a lot of comments like this: "I don't know of these people!" or "Rap sucks!".

I usually lean more towards Biggie as far as this arguement goes, but not so much that I can give a definite answer.

I'd say that Tupac is ahead of Biggie slightly, just because of the contents of his songs.

I'm not a big fine of either one, but I consider Gimmie the Loot the best rap track ever recorded, so Biggie I guess.

So rapping about mutha fuckin niggas and uzis isn't considered gangsta rap? I love hip hop, and i've got a soft spot for rap, but gangsta rap is fucking terrible and gives a bad name to the rest of the genre.

Fine, they both died from gangland violence, or similar. The whole East Coast/West Coast rap war. But nevertheless, one of those, Tupac, had a song speaking out against all that violence. A song that was later mixed with Elton John's music and vocals to create this masterpiece:


Biggie Smalls? His songs were full of stuff about guns and crack and 'hoes' and so on. He seemed to love that whole lifestyle.

So I'd have to say Tupac is the better dude, mainly because he at least seemed to be half decent, unlike the ultimate jackass that Biggie was.

i like both about the same. prefer Biggie, but i dont see the point. they were actually friends (Biggie actually recorded earlier albums at the same place as Tupac)
