It's one of those things that doesn't really come out as a pro to me, but not exactly a con either. Truth be told I'm kinda apathetic to the whole "how women are ported in fiction" thing. I'm not sexist, it's just that I don't complain every time I don't get something in fiction that isn't 100% politically correct.

If I see "soft-core porn" on a video game box art, more than anything it would put me off buying that game because I immediately think that the developers/marketers have the wrong focus.
And I can't say I go to actual stores much (though I suppose the same principle would apply online), but generally games which have any sort of sexually provocative cover art are vastly inaccurate portrayals of the actual game - a discrepancy indicative of various other poor design choices.

On a side note, the most motivating box art I've seen in the past few years is undoubtedly...

Now that's good box art. ;)
See I actually think the opposite when I see that box art. It just looks so bland and forgettable. Its not something that would ever stick out on a shelf and cause you to pick it up. When there is eighty other games sitting on the shelf you need box art that will stand out and get peoples attention. Its one of the reasons that people use sex so much. It might not cause you to buy the game but it generally stands out from everything else.
See, what that lovely & minimalist TES cover art indicates to me is that the game is confident enough in itself to not have to rely on stupid gaudy cover art to promote it. Music has been doing this for freakin' ages now, I'm looking forward to the day when all games can be like that.

I presume you also think the White Album looked bland and forgettable.

I voted no, but then I remembered. This one time I was at a blockbuster and I was in my teens and I bought Dead or Alive Beach Volley Ball. I was so ashamed of it that I never actually played it.

Nope, I normally turn my head the other way because I find those things to be a little eh, scary? I don't know sexualization in general seems to intimidate me a little, so I tend to just look away, I don't know it just makes me uncomfortable for some reason.
