So, what do you guys play first?
I always beat the campaign before I play multiplayer in a game, not even co-op.
What about you guys?

Campaign of course. Unless it's a multiplayer-only game, I feel that single player should be the single most important part of a game. I want to play a game for good gameplay and a nice story, as those are my main requirements for what makes a good game.

Good sir, I am in agreement, as this is both what I do and my reasoning for it. Because of this startling occurrence, I do declare that I have been quite ostentatiously ninja'd.

Always campaign, lets you get used to the controls and the gist of the game's features, weapons, areas, and so on. Also, I tend to enjoy singe-player a lot more then multiplayer.

Campaign. I don't really see the point of going straight to the multiplayer, unless I've got friends around. I'd rather see what the developers thought would be good, and then I might try the multiplayer if it's fun in single player.

If it sucks in single player, I find it usually sucks in multiplayer. Unless, of course, it reaches so far down the critical scale that it's actually funny-bad, which I'll just play for the laughs.

Agreed. I often get annoyed in multiplayer matches when people don't even know how to do basic things you learn within the first 3 missions of the campaign.

Heck, even Arcade games I get annoyed by people like that. I once got yelled at because I "cheated" in Street Fighter 4. Cheating being using a Focus attack to ignore a hit and then dash forward. You know, a standard technique that's in the manual.

I was originally going to say "I always play campaign first" but... it depends on the game.

Now, normally, I won't buy a game unless I'm thoroughly intrigued by a central game mechanic or something along those lines. Except, of course, when the case is that I'm already a fan of the series. If either of those are the case, I play the campaign first, no questions asked.

However, there have been two notable exceptions: Halo 2 and MW2. I bought halo 2 because I had friends who played it all the time, I didn't play the campaign for a very long time. In MW2's case, I bought it purely for the multiplayer, and I still haven't even considered touching the offline game.

I do some Campaign, then decide to try the Multiplayer.

From there it can go either way.

I usually do the first level or two to get the hang of it, then go online and rape the other team.

I don't touch multi-player until I beat the game by myself. I care about the story too much.

Me and my bro always do co-op campaign whenever the option is there, that way we both progress through the story at the same time, and it's more fun! Ah so many good memories and strategies we had...

"Ok, so the enemy ambushes us from behind right? So I'll run as fast as I can to the next check point and you stay back and hold them off until you die and respawn up next to me!"
"Ok, so I stay here and die while you run to safety?"
"Yes, that is correct."
"Let's do this."

Whenever possible (which is far too few games) I coop whatever possible with my boyfriend.
Other than that, it depends, given that I've got quite some games on Lans, where you lack the time, and start right into multiplayer. Even in pure singleplayer games though, i skip the tutorials whenever possible - i like to get used to the specialties of each game alone, and I sure has hell have been told often enough how to select units, and that left klicking means shooting stuff.

Always the Campaign/Single Player...but that's because I'm a single player kinda guy.
Although in the rare exceptions when I will play MP, I'll still do the Campaign/Single Player all the way through first as it helps me get to grips with the gameplay/style of the game and means I won't get chewed up and spat out so quickly if I do come to play multiplayer.

usually multiplayer, seeing as i don't always play the SP part of games primarily focused on multiplayer at all.
I do play SP games though, but they rarely have multiplayer.

If given the option to, I always play a co-op campaign first.
Multiplayer is really the last thing that I think of playing when I choose a game to buy.

Campaign. Always. It gets me practice with the controls before I go into multiplayer basically.

Besides, I really don't have a lot of multiplayer games compared to other people. I tend to stray towards the singleplayer experience.

I take the best of both worlds and do co-op campaign, when it's available. I have fun playing games with friends... playing co-op with my roommate is a wonderful girl-bonding experience. That being said, though, if there's no co-op... I still play campaign first.
