As you can see I was fairly negative about all the choices. Mostly cause I like how all the factions are grey. Some are a little darker than others sure.

I like the legion. While they may be rapists and slavers they actually protect their citizens, no matter how far their empire reaches, and they care about everyone not just one city, and they are not as corrupt and stupid as the NCR. I will update my post with more details later.

Edit :Ok more details. Well They have been able to sustain their empire that reaches across at least 4 states, while the NCR can only hold onto one. When they take over a land they are going to keep it bandit and criminal free. While it is terrible to be so harsh it is also very effective. The guy in the Legion camp only trades in legion territory because it is safe there. Trading means cities cities mean civilians so they aren't just one big army.

They have the right idea. The world has been set back to square one so we need to start at square one not scramble right back up to square 21. We need to start from the ground up and create our own technologies. We can't just live off of what America left behind because the path they took lead them to ruin. We need to find different sources of energy, find other ways to advance society and stop from bombing us back to Oblivion again.

The only problem for the legion is Caesar dying. How ever there are people that he can teach his ideals to people that he can pass his legacies to. When he dies Legatatus Lanius will have to be put down for the good of the Legion. The man who will lead the Legion will probably be Lucius. Caesar trust him with everything other than leading his troops.

captcha: Okey-Dokey. uhhhh these things are freaky.

Yes Man. Because if you do what he suggests, that anarchy and bandit riots will be over in a matter of days thanks to your robot army.

The Brotherhood of Steel. They may act like assholes at first but its a matter of their survival. Also, you can ally them with the NCR.

House is my favorite major faction, but I do love those Remnants, and not just because of their badass armor.

But back to House, I do think he is one of the better leaders. I think I'd take a CEO over slavers and shitheads. And Yesmans last words in the game still haunt me. He'll turn on me, just fucking watch >:|

Plus, robots. FUCKING ROBOTS!

I really, really wanted to go with house, but I just couldn't destroy the Brotherhood of Steel after I'd saved them and they loved me enough to make me an honorary member. It showed me that despite his grand vision I was just an underling, he was making the decisions and I would have to go along with them. Apparently there is a mod to allow you to persuade him to leave them alone if you are on good terms with them.

Anyway, So I went with yes man, basically taking over Mr. Houses operation with the same general idea even if I don't have the technical knowledge he did I should be able to get yes man to access all the records and the scientists from the Followers of the Apocalypse and elsewhere to help. Still, as the guy above me said, Yes man's last words about reprogramming himself to be more assertive were kind of worrying though. Hope I haven't put a maniacal AI overlord in charge.

weirdly and you can add it back in with a mod but there are audio files for an alliance between house and the brotherhood as well. beats me why they didnt add it. i would of thought more options would of been better
That's interesting. I'd heard of the Mod but didn't know it actually included unused audio from the game. Maybe they didn't put it in for the reasons above. They wanted to show you Mr.House wasn't particularly reasonable or wanted you to have to make a hard choice. Having to drop Mr. House for Yes man over the BoS was a decision I didn't want to make but I had to, I'd been taken in by houses speech of rebuilding society and stuck with him the whole game until the order to Destroy the BoS. Then I put it off and tried to do everything else in the game in the hope that something would let me persuade him otherwise. Maybe more options would have been better but then sometimes not getting what you want can make thing more memorable.

Also apologies for double post

NCR first playthrough. All the allies FTW!
And it meant I didn't have to fight 2 armies at the end.

The followers of the apocalypse because they represent constructive change and the ability to go forwards instead of just relying on your forefathers - a direction I find lacking in many post-apocalyptic IP:s.

House and NCR have the potential but seem to stumble. The Legion has a misguided priority list. Taking over yourself does not give you any options to fix things for the better. My personal choice would be to take up guarding the followers and recreating society somewhere else.

that would be the ncr, but i wish they ally themselves with the followers of the apocalopse or something, could make some good.

actually i do really like the kings but they suffer the same problem as the legion in that theyre based on one mans ideals, which means theyre gonna implode once the king dies.

I thought all the factions in New Vegas were pretty boring myself. It was part of why the game didn't do it for me.
I do know that NCR was my least favorite, because they were massively dull and EVERYWHERE.

Nah man, sure they get shit done and keep their shit SECURE, but Caesars' Legion just sucks way too much for everyone in it. Both men and women. Men have their individuality stripped and get to be indoctrinated into their brutal society, an exclusively military machine, made into psychopathic killers, given machetes and sent to fight trained soldiers armed with machine guns and rifles, and that's still probably a good deal better than what the women get. Still, everyone in the damn thing is a slave.
Damn, Legionary bootcamp must be like actual Roman legion training crossed with the first half of Full Metal Jacket, times 10.

If you could instill the take no shit, get stuff done attitude of the Legion into the NCR, methinks you'd get the ideal Fallout faction. Though of course there is no 'ideal', that's the point.

Anyway I chose Yes Man on my main playthrough. At least there there's the potential for my protagonist to fix things up in the Mojave overall more than the other factions would post-game, and New Vegas will be damn secure and reasonably well off for a good amount of time.
However my favorite faction was the Boomers. They don't concern themselves with constantly conquering or claiming shit (though then again I guess that's because they don't need to, you can see why the NCR and Legion do what they do), they arm themselves with enough exploding shit to fight and win a small war and hole up in an old air force base with a fuckton of artillery, shelling anything that comes nearby.
Now THAT'S practicality!

...ignoring the fact they have to run out of ammo, food and other stuff eventually...

The Khans and Fiends, but they never did expand them enough to make them viable options which was really sad. I would of loved a dialog option with cook cook or Motor Runner (the fiends boss think thats his name) and help him just kill NCR.

NCR, I thought they represented humanity's best hope of long term survival in the wasteland... and I'm boring.

NCR, not really a fan of totalitarian governments like Legion, Yes man or House.
