I'm having seen Evolition so I kind of defending GT abit as I suppose the only saving grace for GT (in my view) was the intro song-

Yeah it's quite happy and cheesy but I thought it really capture Goku positive outlook in life.

Evolution by far. Its a prime example of what hollywood will do to any established franchise if thye people heading the project have no care for the source material.

The main issue with GT is that it spent the first 1/3 trying to recapture the magic of Dragonball, but most of the fans wanted a continuation of Z so the remaining portion of the show featured the usual villain power creep in shonen anime which necessitated that Goku get stronger as well. Really if they wanted Dragon Ball in space they should have used Goku jr and Vegeta jr instead of using (and ruining) the established cast.

I haven't seen all of either, but Evolution just looks god awful, much more so than any anime could. I looked up the actor who plays Goku, and he has done so little of merit, it's actually kind of funny. He was also in Super Babies 2, which is on most people's worst movies of all time list. It kind of sucks for him, because he isn't half bad on Shameless, he just has terrible luck and shouldn't agree to any and all jobs, as that's the only way I can imagine him being apart of both this and the Super Babies movie.

Evolution was God awful. It was a quick cash in on the Dragonball franchise, and no one looked like who they were supposed to. Also, CGI sweat...

Dragon Ball GT may have been bad, but the art was good and it had its moments.

I don't really get how this is even debatable - Evolution is shit in every aspect, where GT is just a subpar continuation of a cookie cutter shounen anime. GT is a LOT worse than Dragonball and Z, but it still wasn't god awful.

GT was okay. Not as good as DBZ but it was watchable for someone who wanted more.

while dragonball evolution was pretty awful, it was still far better than I expected any live-action adaptation to be. Honestly, considering the over-the-top childish/slapstick nature of source material, how could it possibly have turned out well? Unless you were making a spoof, which sadly evolution was not.

Evolution was Super Mario bros. bad. It didn't give a fuck about the source material and just did it's own thing. I'll rewatch gt a thousand times before I EVER watch evolution again. I've only seen the movie [b[ONCE/b], and that's once more than it deserves. I literally felt ill watching that movie.

In comparison, Fist of North Star was bad, but it's bad in a comical way. The movie at least tried to follow the source material a little, but Dragonball evolution did nothing of the sort. They could have used the money they spent on this movie, and made a better movie.

GT at least ended with an excellent (albeit terribly executed) premise - the Dragonballs becoming the final villains of the series.

Evolution just flat out bastardized the franchise.

Easily Evo. GT certainly wasn't great but it is nothing compared to the insult that was Evo. That film was at an Uwe Boll level of disrespect towards source material.

Guys come on though. The source material is really really stupid! Fun stupid, the kind of stupid that still makes us wax nostalgic decades later, but still.

GT may have have been terribly written, in fact every story arc was so shot full of holes it'd make Swiss cheese like a brick. However for the most part GT was still enjoyable to watch, Evolution on the other hand was nearly unbearable. Even disregarding the connection to the source material, Evolution is still a terrible movie.

Evolution. It's just not very good at all. It was like a parody of what Hollywood does to franchises, but the difference is that it's real and not even ironic.

Can I say neither?.

For all the flak GT gets, I absolutely loved the idea it had for it's final wave of baddies being dragons from the seven spheres themselves (super sayan 4 is still kinda dumb though) and I didn't hated Evolution as much as I thought I would, in fact, I kinda enjoyed it for what it was.

GT was mediocre, and it not canon so...whatever.

But Evolution is really bad, just bad.
