Other than the fact that a game is simple to complex coding.
Where do you think Characters/NPCs go when they die (from you or the environment), I personally think they go to a sort of limbo before being resurrected back to there original spot. So in other words a respawn. So to every Escapist who's ever played a video game and watched a favorite Character/NPC die, what do you think happens?

Sometimes I like to imagine that all video game characters are spawned from a vast sea of primordial ooze. They don't really have souls; when they die, their remains are simply returned to the ooze, where it's recycled to create replacements. It's kind of like how Tyranid organisms are created and destroyed in Warhammer 40,000.

I think half of the protagonists in Modern Warfare 2 went straight to gaming heaven, and got to hang around with all the other characters that get killed off like half the crew in Bulletstorm and... Gordon Freeman

They probably have drinks and chat rubbish til they get recycled in another game.

Wow...that's exactly how I pictured it.

Well, I'm sure that we have different visualizations of it.

All of these selections are wrong. They go to the Cafe Of Broken Dreams. Or Milliways.

I don't know but if they're anything like Bambi's mum; they get reused in game (or movie) after game. I think they go on. Especially if there's no corpse.

I think the engine plays a ragdoll animation and then despawns their pawn and AI. Hey, I can't not be a programmer and that's what happens.

Maybe they become ghosts? also why aren't there more options, like what if they already have a place they go int their game?

They go to the Underwhere. That or they are created in a factory based off of one true , like the turrets in Portal 2.

A little known fact in the industry is that video game characters are a real race of beings that live inside of computers, and developers have enslaved them in order to provide our entertainment. All enemies in games are promised freedom if they can kill the protagonist, but little do they know that their guns only smear strawberry jam of the protagonist characters' screen as well as temporarily stun him whilst he's re-spawning. The reason why these characters look better with each game is not because the graphics have been upgraded, but because all of the original cast have been killed and replaced by younger/ older and better looking 'actors'.

At least, that's the only logical explanation
