The title pretty much says it all. Do you like the movies of today, who are mostly computer animated, or the traditional kind of the ninties?

Just in case people don't understand....

I enjoy both equally, just for different reasons. What type of animation it is doesn't really matter to me--it's the quality that's the deciding factor. Either one can look amazing or like total shit if it's half-assed.

I prefer the hand drawn method. I dunno why though, probably because I grew up with it. Still, computer animation is impressive to me, I just like hand drawn better.

Computer. I have loved every Pixar film, with 5 of them in my top 20 favorite movies. And after watching tangled(Which is also probably a new favorite...what? I love me some animation and the story was still well done.) I can safely say that I kind of want to be a 3d animator now...despite having no drawing ability :}

I grew up in the 90's. I miss all the hand drawn stuff, although, Toy Story blew my fucking mind.

It's kind of sad to think that pretty much all kid's movies now will be in CGI.

Also, Basil the Great Mouse Detective.

You have to remember that computer cgi is drawn by a person then put onto the computer. It's not actually drawn on a computer it's just improved then animated.

The animation style doesn't matter to me so much as the story it's used to tell.

Though I find it hard to imagine, say, Wall.E in traditional cartoon form, I'd also struggle with, say, the Smurfs in CGI. Wait, what? That's actually happening?

Hand drawn, mostly because CG is so overused these days.

I do love me some CG movies now and then (I'm a big Pixars fan.), but I'd love to see more hand drawn animated movies these days.

I couldn't get enough of computer animation when I was a kid. Of course this was back in the mid-90s, when it was still a novelty.

Nowadays I find myself gravitating more towards hand drawn animation. There's a certain quality to it that most computer animation lacks (except Pixar's work, of course).

Probably my favorite example is Batman: The Animated Series. The creators used black paper instead of white, resulting in a richness to the shadows that I haven't seen in any other animated show, hand drawn or otherwise.

I think it all comes down to how it really done, but I tend to prefer hand drawn as it's a very very very specialized art, where computer animation is slightly less so.

The place where I really see and prefer a difference is that hand drawn tend to have a sense of imperfection through the entirety of the work, whereas computer generated always looks crisp and clean and perfect throughout.

I knew someone was going to say this. Oh well.

Anyway, I say hand drawn because that's what the traditional style was called. Computer animation is of course different because mostly everyone uses it to refer to 3D graphics animation.

I prefer hand drawn my self, i grew up with it. I like 3D animation too, but i Think all those "Shrek inspired" Movies that flooded the theaters for the last decade sort of ruined it.

I think its getting better, with studios like dreamworks stepping up and making stuff like How to train your dragon

Instead of crap like Bee movie....FUCK I hate that movie (I know its not dreamworks)
