There were too many talented people who died this year. I am not someone who is concerned about celebrities. Yet, I was stunned by quite a few death announcements this year.

Which celebrity death affected you the most this year?

My answer to the poll is Prince. I have an insane amount of Prince albums. This guy was simply a creative genius. I have three other celebrity deaths that strongly affected me that I didn't include on the poll: Paul Kanter (Jefferson Airplane), Edward Albee (Playwright. "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"), and Leonard Cohen. That is not including my avatar. If you have someone that you want me to include on the poll, let me know.

EDIT: I added Ron Glass and Leonard Cohen to the poll.

Prince only because his home base is Minnesota where I live. So everything was PRINCE PRINCE PRINCE for a solid week after his death.

Otherwise to be blunt, no celebrities who bit the dust mattered to me.

David Bowie, cause he died just after finishing his last album, and I like that he got to go out hopefully with a sense of completion. Im sure he would have done way more if he lived longer, but it sucks when a creative dies mid-project. I also respect his rejection of masculinity.

Plus my favorite movie:

Ron Glass broke my heart, and Alan Young made me cry a little. Sheperd Book and Scrooge McDuck, both gone within months of each other.

Beyond him just being an awesome actor, he seemed like one of those guys who'd just be around forever.

No love for our glorious El Presidente? Nah, it has to be David Bowie. My Mum is a huge fan and had just bought the new album, and then his death seemed to come out of nowhere.

None of those (though the closest would be Bowie).

Leonard Cohen's death affected me the most. In fact, he's the first public figure whose death I actually cried about. He was one of my favourite artists.

Who? No seriously, I only know Muhammed Ali as some boxer and I think Prince and Bowie are musicians of some kind, right? Those other three, no clue who they are.

Anyway, celebrity deaths generally dont affect me, in part because I don't seem to know a lot of celebrities.

Hmmm, I like pretty much all of them just fine, but Muhammad Ali, probably the least surprising on that list considering his age and condition, caused me to reflect the most. I watched tons and tons of videos of Ali in his prime. The guy was absolutely phenomenal. Even if you don't watch boxing or sports in general, you can't disrespect his incredible talent. People like to throw the phrase "GOAT" around willy-nilly these days, but I don't think you'll find anyone who can argue against Muhammad Ali being THE Greatest of All Time.

Bowie, easily. For many he wasn't just some guy who made music - he was part of their world from childhood, there from even before they could remember not having a world with Bowie and his music in.

He was utterly unique (arguably, at his best, without equal), and him dying was like a little piece of your own world dying.
