So watching the simpsons lately I was thinking who is the worst cation dad and who is the best.

Feel free to list them from best to worst and some reasons why you feel they are the best and worst.

Also try to keep it to cartoons and not anime.

In my eyes Peter is the absolute worst Dad ever based on how much he abuses his children for his own amusment.

Hank Hill is the best father. For how he treats others and trys to always put his family first. Even if he's close minded he means we'll for Bobby.

Best cartoon dad?

Pft.

Worst dad, I'd probably agree with Peter Griffin for now.

Peter Griffin is the worst father, no doubt about it. Then again, no one on that show is actually likable ...

Was trying to not include the best dad's from younger cartoons because they win no contest. He is a wonderful father tho and has 3 great kids.

Out of the list above, worst dad goes to Peter due to his abuse to his daughter Meg. Outside of the list, I would like to thrown in Gendo Ikari in there.

Best dad.... danm sky14kemea for being a ninja! I guess second place could be Nigel Thornberrys mainly cos of that episode when he save Eliza and two others from a snowstorm since it was Eliza own fault for not taking her dad seriously on the suvivial tips (it's the one that had a llama in it).

Pretty sure Venger won't be winning any 'best dad' competitions. You didn't say we had to stick to the list - I've never heard of any of those guys.
there all the people from adult toons on tv nowadays.

What has Venger done tho I never watched any d&d shows

Gambino from Berserk.

He sells his own surrogate son out to one of his men to get raped. And then years later tries to kill him in a drunken stupor.

Even Gendo Ikari had some love for his son at one point in his life.

Peter Griffin is not only the worst father, I'd like to nominate him for worst mother too. He's that bad.

The best dad would be Bob Belcher. While Hank is always trying (with good intenions, of course) to mold Bobby into something he can't be, Bob accepts his weird kids for who they are.

I don't really watch family guy did he somehow become mother also? I'd feel bad for the kid.

Belcher that's his last name I completely forgot it. And you make a good point about being willing to accapt his kids more then Hank.

Worst...can I say the Joker?

But then again, he is a supervillain, so maybe that shouldn't count.

On the list though, probably Peter Griffin, at least in later seasons after the characters started warping. In early seasons he was closer to a bumbling dad, but he has long since become a full on abusive parent.

Also, Judge Claude Frollo.

Not sure about best, but my vote for worst dad has to go to Dr Jonas Venture Senior from the Venture Bros. Despite his reputation as a brilliant scientist and adventurer, as a parent he was at best negligent, at worst sociopathic. When he wasn't delegating his son's care to a robot, he was dragging him off into the life of a boy adventurer, whether he liked it or not, with no concern for the effect constant danger and death would have on a child's psyche.
- Testing his experiments on his son
- Putting him in situations where he had to kill people (including making him kill a man with a house key when he was ten years old)
- Letting his equally deranged adventuring companions mistreat the boy (such as waking him up every morning by putting an unloaded gun to his head, pulling the trigger, and saying "Not today, Rusty")
- Hosting a birthday party for his son, and inviting playboy bunnies, models and actual prostitutes instead of other children
- Completely ignoring a ransom demand when his son was kidnapped, to the point where the kidnappers felt so sorry for the boy they pretended the whole thing was actually part of a local festival to cheer him up

As a result, his now adult son is a neurotic pill-popping failure, doomed to live forever in the shadow of a father the world thought was brilliant, while ironically putting his own sons through a similar childhood (although never to the same extent, despite his seeming lack of care he has gone to great lengths to ensure they are better cared for, and they mostly enjoy themselves)

The whole part about them being clones and having died about 16 or so times beforehand... I think Rusty takes the prize over Jonas Sr. At least Jonas never got Rusty killed... In that way, its the only time Rusty has ever outdone his father in achievements.

Besides that though, yeah... Jonas was a shitty parent.

Going by the way he treats Meg, Peter Griffin is a good contender for Worst Dad. Then again Homer does strangle Bart here and there.

The dad from fairly odd parents. He respects your privacy by knocking, but asserts his authority as your parent by coming in anyway.
I think that answers both of those questions.
