Poll: Why do people seem to hate (or just not like) Weezer?

Last week I tagged (facebook) most of my friends on a Weezer pic. Things didn't go to well, at all. Most of them took it almost like an insult and commented on HATING weezer, I was shocked. I mean sure, i get if they don' t really like the band, but hate it?. So yeah I did some checking and most people (on my school) seem to dislike the band "dislike" replacing some of the stuff people commented. I don' t simply get it

Weezer (to my opinion) have a pretty good and slightly new sound, and make really FUN videos to watch

Well it must just be the people you tagged because most people I know like/tolerate Weezer.
They really are a cool band who do some interesting videos.

For me, Hash pipe was alright; most of their stuff bores me to tears though.

I prefer heavier music, but they perform they're style of music wonderfully, and I do find a number of their songs catchy, which I believe is the point.


They also brought about quite possibly the best music video ever. So there's that.

People hate weezer because they suck. And they didn't always suck. Blue and pinkerton are both hugely influential, and really goddamn great albums, but everything they've done since has gotten progressively worse.

Green was good, but nothing great. Maladroit was the last gasp of competency.

Make believe was a crime, Red was trash, and Raditude should never have been printed on a disc.

This is a once great band that burned out a decade ago, and needs to go quietly into the night before they kick their early fans in the balls again.

Its mostly because of Raditude and The Red Album. They've gone from geek rock to frat rock and its alienated a lot of fans. Especially long time ones like myself.

Heres to hoping Hurley is as geeky as it sounds.

I didn't know that band before, and nobody I know ever talked about it to me, so I couldn't say why, although I found the music you posted interesting, I'll listen to more of them to check if they are good or not. The clip was pretty fun too, reminded me of that South Park episode with the Youtube famous videos guys. I don't see anything wrong with them, so I won't be a big help, sorry.

Anyway, I gather that Weezer used to be good and they gradually went downhill.
