If they fuck up and try a 13-2 I'll give them some old wartime payback and kamikaze on Square Enix's building.

Butttt on topic now, no she probably won't 'return to the lifestream' as they say. Because Lightning is Square Enix's first attempt at a Female main-character since the aforemention horror of X-2. So we will have the cliche happy ending with no heh-I-kinda-saw-it-coming deaths.
Considering that there's 3 Final Fantasy 13 games (13, versus 13, 13 agito) i doubt there'd be a 13-2
Also your wrong, the first Final Fantasy with a female lead was Final Fantasy 6 with Terra

Edit: i misread that, sorry
Also, both final fantasy 6 and x-2 were decent games with a good battle system, good character depth and a decent engrossing story.
I'm so sick of people like you who say ffx-2 was horrible just because the first few hours of the game is aimed at girls. If you get further into the game, you discover soon this isn't the case.

FFX-2 wasn't a horrible game... it just wasn't what YOU wanted...
No, no. It Was Shit.
I'll bet you couldn't even tell me what the hell Vegnagun is.
The game got alot better after the initial start of the game where I thought I was watching all the female members of the Power Rangers (Y, R, P).
It quickly picked up. It had a good battle system, the dressspheres were an interesting twist on the age-old much praised job system), the plot was decent enough (better than FFXII's). The sidequests were fun (something that's been missing from a few previous FF's) and overall it was alot better than I initially thought it would be. My one gripe about the game would be that Sphere Break game and the lack of being able to control Blitzball in X-2.
Stop bitching, just because it wasn't what YOU wanted.
You know what? No, I probably cannot tell you what Vegnagun is. Do You Know Why?

Because I couldn't give two shits about FFX-2. And the mere fact that you dared to slander XII by comparing it to the horrible bullshit of X-2 is more than enough to get my goat.

12 (for those of us who don't know what XII means) was a free roaming, not quite open world, and while it was a little slow at points, i was never bored to the point of shitting on the floor just to have something to clean up, like a certain game I could name. And no fun mini-games? My fucking ass. You can do a sort of quick time fishing game which can get you great items, do hunts for reward, Elite Hunts for great rewards and Trophy hunting for absolutely kick ass prizes depending on how you spend said trophies. There are also one or two others that I didn't have the time to find.

And you said that you MISSED blitzball? Fuck you. No.
Hahahah, you're going to get banned for this post, which is just hilarious, and btw, I never said I hated FFXII. The battle system and sidequests are great (I never said they weren't. Learn to read, troll). I said the plot lacked alot. Get your facts straight. The fact that you can't tell me what Vegnagun is just proves you didn't give the game a chance.
I don't see why people bitched about X-2. If you can swallow your pathetic "manly pride" and get past the start where it's all "Girl Power, go!" The game contains everything that you'd expect in a decent Final Fantasy game. Good battle system, AWESOME job system and set of skills, GREAT character customization combining dressspheres and weapons to create an invincible party, and decent plot that you could follow along with most of it making sense and most of all... Extremely fun sidequests and minigames. (LeBlanc I'd gladly cut out). I'm sorry, but the plot for X-2 was alot better than the go nothing nowhere plot of the Empire in FFXII. (ffs, you meet the final boss only once, and he's really got no character depth other than looking like the model Fabio).
Blitzball in the first one was alot of fun (which I doubt you even tried following the sidequest for), but in X-2 it lacked alot. You couldn't control the individual people and most of the players on your team were just fail. I won every single tournament in FFX. In X-2 I couldn't get away from Blitzball fast enough.
I believe I've verbally owned you enough, and even if I haven't, my point remains valid, and I guarantee because you used such polite words towards me, you'll be banned soon.
Verbally owned me? Oh yes indeedy. Nobody said you hate XII. I said that I hate you for saying that any part of it was worse than x-2. Oh, you can't see why people would ***** about X-2? Non-Turn based fighting in a final fantasy? The fact that it NEVER gets passed the girl power mentality? The fact it was way too easy- apart from actually finding the next part of the game if you left for a day or two. And everybody feels about the original Blitzball as you do about the X-2 version. The only people who won the Blitzball tournaments were people with significantly too much time on their hands. Wakka's extra moves were not worth the hassle.

But yes. Vaine was two dimensional and boring but at least all the other bosses and mini-bosses where awesome and individual.

I hope this reaches you before my inevitable banning.
Yours lolingly,
JonnoStrife.

You're an idiot. I only said the plot was better than FFXII (I like FFXII alot but not for the plot. I enjoyed both of the games, and yes it does get past the girl power mentality, you just didn't bother getting far enough. The dresssphere system was alot better than say having every single character in FFXII 100% identical apart from how they look! I don't know who you've been talking to. Most people I know enjoyed Blitzball in the first one.
FFX-2 was just crazy, fast-paced fun. it tied up alot of lose ends from the first one, and if you got 100% in completion percentage the biggest part of the underlying plot was revealed (and it was worth it).
absolutely nothing you say is valid, you're just flamer/troll.
Finish the game and then I might actually care to converse with you longer (though I highly doubt it).

No she's not, her SISTER on the other hand has a VERY short lease on life.
Yes, back on topic (No stupid comments) hopefully she won't die, because she has the look of somebody that could be potentially interesting. Also she heralds back in the gun/sword combo weapons that I love oh so much.

I'm sure this isn't the cause, but judging from the trailer, someone who willingly jumps out of a moving aircraft shouldn't expect a long lifespan.

X-2 and XII, despite being a bit too different for most people's comfort, actually have really good system behind it. I think every battle in those two games are a real joy.

With that said, where did you get the hint that Lightning might die at some point in FF13?

The game isn't out for 6 months. Why are we debating it now, rather than say...5 months from now?

She'll probably mysteriously vanish when she miraculously saves the world from the evil people.
And then Square sits back and watches the fans on the internet rant, if they want Lightning to come back then XIII's spin-off will feature her, if they are cheering for another character then we can brace ourselves for another Dirge of Cerberus.

Of course she'll probably still be in the movie anyway.

Nah, I don't think they'll go to that cliche again when they've done it in 7, 9 and 10 and each time the character comes back in some shape or form. Maybe Zidanes "apparent" death doesn't count in the ending cutscene but it was still used to get the player to think "Is he dead? Really?" only to have him come back about 7 minutes later.

On discussion with the whole pointless X-2 and XII debate. I finished X-2 but not XII. I have to say X-2 just wasn't anywhere near as satisfying as X, and I never finished XII. The characters were great spare for Vaan and Penelo but they all just seemed to huddle together, making 2 man alliances and never really connected in my opinion. The game just became a "set up gambits, get cuppa, sit"

All this speculation and we barely know anything about the characters, let alone the story? Impressive.

Why didn't you just... turn off the gambits?

Also Characters stayed dead in 2,3,5 and 6 PERMANENTLY Hell FF2 was pretty much "Lets see how many guys we can kill off in the span of one game"
Because I liked the gambits. It was a nice system. Just it meant that the game got rapidly boring for me.

I never completed 2,3,4,5 or 6 admittedly. I've just restarted playing 9 but i'm tempted to ditch that and go and play 6. Kefka in Dissidia is making me think it's worth it.

... Thats the first time I've heard someone say they got bored of FFXII while not simultaniously slamming Gambits. I used them on my party members and controlled one character myself.

And yes 6 is very worth it.
After playing MMO's and wanting to control multiple characters and have them know EXACTLY what to do in any situation, gambits are the most amazing way to go. Just if there was something engrossing about XII I would have rated it very high as I think I got quite far before giving up. I'm going to pick it up again after I beat the Dark Aeons just to go fight Gilgamesh.

I played 6 once, all the way up to the Esper World(?). I think I was so bad at the game I Terra was only level 18 and I was getting killed by the random mobs. But that's because I was enjoying the story and wanted to just keep moving on. I'll play it again and this time not fail.
