I've never played Bloodborne, but Witcher 3 is my new favourite game of all time, so clearly that gets my vote.

The story is outstanding, full of well written characters with complex motivations. I'd describe it as a cross between the TV shows Supernatural (because you get the day to day monster hunting and saving random peasants) and Game of Thrones (because you get the top level political scheming and wars between kingdoms).

The combat is excellent, both fast paced and tactical. There are dozens of different monsters, and they have different strengths and weaknesses that force you to change your tactics and use different abilities.

The open world is massive, and filled with meaningful content (no filler "kill 10 bears" quests).

My only concern in the case of the thread starter is that you might want to play the first 2 games to get the most enjoyment out of the story. I replayed both earlier this year, I will admit Witcher 1 is a bit rough when compared to modern games, but Witcher 2 is still an amazing game.

Hmm, interesting. I was leaning toward Bloodborne, but Witcher 3 seems more up my alley. The patch notes for The Witcher that keep coming out that are directly addressing criticisms of the game and a promise of huge DLC makes it seem like a much better value overall. Thanks!
