Poll: World Of Warcraft Catalysm- Too much?

I once played W.O.W back before the Wrath Of The Lich King. Burning Crusade was great and the other crusade dimension made enough sense and it didn't change the W.O.W universe too much. I could get the new races perfectly. The Wrath Of Lich King expanded the story line and it didn't mess with any of the old original locations and freshed thing up with the 80 level cap.
But know here comes Catalysm bringing in what? Goblins and werewolves along with destroying some of my most memorable places, and a brutally copied off of Balrog from Lord Of The Rings!
Is it too much?

Not too much. I mean, they could have had better races, but changing the setup/design of an area sounds ok to me.

I think it's great. If you actually follow the storyline and vast amounts of lore behind the Warcraft realm the next expansion makes perfect sense. I'm excited to see the world of Azeroth change, it will be really cool for players like me who have been around since day one.

EDIT: Just so you know, Deathwing is a corrupted dragon, not a Balrog or anything similar.

Nah, why create something new every time? Most of Azeroth is largely unused at the moment and its a waste of space. May as well do something with such a large area that was supposed to be large hubs for the various factions.

Are you kidding? It's about time they did a revamp of the mainland. It'll make starting a new character and going through those first 58 levels more bearable.

Plus, flying mounts everywhere! That's just awesome!

His question was about whether this messes with WoW's storyline too much, but way to spew some hate there, buddy.

OT: I don't think this messes with the story too much (top prize goes to TBC for adding space-goats), the only thing I'm wondering about is that I thought Deathwing was incarcerated by the other dragons, and kept in Grim Batol.

But it seems not.

All revamped zones will be an improvment.
Barrens- CHUCK-FUCKING-NORRIS!
Darkshore- It wasn't interesting in the first place and the quests sucked
Desolace- look at me with a straight face and tell me you have ever quested in Desolace

The only zone I will miss is Azshara. Never quested there, but I fear for Azuregos. Without him no more doing the SotSS quests for funzies. And he is soloable, soloing a raid boss made my balls feel big.

EDIT: I also heard that Garrosh will be a major character. I he gets beaten to death with a pillow. And Tauren pallys are just silly.

AS the saying goes.

If you're not moving forwards, you're going backwards

Blizzard can't leave the game stagnating forever, they have to convince people to part with their money every month. I can't see a better way of doing it than making the game evolve and change over time, as the market leaders they can't afford to have it stagnate and suffer people trickling away to other newer games.

So no, not too much at all.

Thinking about it now I'm wondering if this is the beginning of the end of WoW. Is this laying the groundwork for the end of WoW and making way for a new MMO they are making to replace it? Just a thought.

Well, considering a lot of the original zones were dull I guess it can only be an improvement. still not enough to make me play again though.

Although I haven't been around since the start, I've been around a fairly long time on WoW, and I have to admit at first I was a bit taken aback by the changes. I even called bullshit the first time a lot of the new race/class combos were rumoured. But now, I just frikkin want it :|

zomg, not Ragnaros! How dare they introduce a flaming beast from the bottom of a mountain who will yell "Too soon, Executus! Too soon!" at everyone who yells at him "You shall not pass!"??!?:?

I don't rly play anymore. But i would of rather see them fill in some gaps between teh endless endless plains of forest and nothingness. Take away some of the tediousness of getting around without a mount. New races seem a lil silly too. I dunno i can only judge the game on what it was like when i played it, but thats how i see it.

They messing with the difficulty at all? i miss the days where you could feel proud for doing a quest alone others couldn't do in a group of 3 or more while levelling up the latest alt in your collection. I gave up playing though a while back and dunno if this will be enough to make me want to play.

OT. I think this isn't too much if they pull it off well. Always adding new crap on top gets boring so revamping some of the existing stuff could prove worthwhile. Better get some screenshots of them "memorable places" before its too late?

I don't think it's too much. I thought that it was at first but then I looked at the bigger picture. Azeroth just kind of sits there, doing the same damn quests over and over and over with every new char you make, Outland and Northrend are the only truly cared about places. It will be good to change it, and I'm sure it will be fun once people (are forced to) get used to it. I just have to fully explore all the places I haven't before I am...unable to. And heck yeah Worgen will be epic. Goblins will, but not as much as Worgen. Worgen ftw.

Cataclysm is essentially WoW's sequal, one could slap a "WoW 2" label on the box and it would be the same game. The entire game is getting a huge huge face lift from its current launch day look, leveling content is changing, areas are changing, the whole 9 yards.

Why not just release a brand spankin new game you ask? Doing so would split the player base and ultimately kill blizzard's money maker; releasing it as the largest expansion to hit the game is a better business decision because it will not only attract new players to the game, but bring back older players who want to check out the new content.

To quote Chris Metzen from the blizzcon opening ceremonies "An event that will be nothing less than earth shattering; the face of azeroth will change forever."

Ladies and gentleman the long awaited WoW 2 is on the way, whether blizzard admits it or not. We're going to need way more DoTs than we've ever used before to survive 0.o
