Pick one.

You can be extremely lucky, basically leading a charmed life. You regularly win contests, find money on the ground, manage to avoid dropping things on your toes, always hit the green light in traffic, etc. However, you are incredibly dim witted. Long sentences confuse you, you can't do math, spell correctly, and it takes you a long time to get even the simplest of jokes. Life will be easy for you, but you may not be able to comprehend that fact.

Or you can be dangerously intelligent. You are Sherlock Holmes. Nothing slips past you. Even problems that confound intelligent well educated men are child's play to you. However, you aren't lucky. If something can go wrong it usually will (but you probably figured out that it would, you clever egg). Slot machines are right out for you, and don't expect your name to get drawn from any hats unless it's to decide who to cast overboard to distract the rabid sea monsters. You will probably have to work quite hard to combat your terrible luck, even with your prodigious intellect.

If you were smart, then you would find a way to get the things you want.

Lucky. All the smarts in the world can't keep bad luck from bending you over and screwing you for all you're worth.

Smarts, that lucky life doesn't sound enjoyable being dumb
How would you know that was the case? If you blitz a test by being lucky using your 'gut instinct' you may just lie to yourself that you must have picked up that tidbit of knowledge somewhere.

Moreover even if you knew you were dumb, how exactly would you know what you were missing out on?

Aristotle thought he was pretty bloody clever, even as it turned out he'd have realized he was wrong if he actually took a moment to count on average the number of teeth on people rather than (assumingly) just two randos he met on the street.

Ancient engineers and road builders probably thought they were pretty clever, yet early Romans didn't have 0.

You can be that guy that takes a test for dementia, pretend like it says something about your intelligence, go on Twitter and brag how you 'aced' said dementia test, and somehow still be PotUS due to a mockery of democracy where you lost the popular vote. And apparently that's not proof enough being stupid and lucky can still be enjoyable?

I mean, sure history has had its Woodrow Wilson, Ford, and Reagan (more utterly mad than stupid) ...

Smarts. Not only can I make good things happen at will (generally), I actually understand WHY. Also, being extremely lucky and taking all the hardship and challenge out of the world would actually be a hollow victory. We need the bad times, people.

Define 'bad times'? Can I expect to see you doing a stint as some lowly thug in a Manila slum drug ring?

See, I've travelled enough to know that this...

... is a pretty bad thing to experience for those forced to live there.

And there's plenty of quite clever people by dint of learning to survive those streets living there.

I always look at people quizzically when they come up with whoppers like; "Hardship builds character." No... hardship build hard hearts.

Smarts because I like being sad, joking aside I prefer the feeling of smug superiority you get from being smarter than someone else than the feeling of winning a contest or whatever, so smart just for the right of being smug I'll take whatever shit life throws at me.

I'd choose Smart, then I'd use said smarts to track down the person who chose to be a Lucky Dullard and together we would rule the world.

Lucky, win a huge lottery Jackpot then I can just live a happy stupid life with my stupid friends and never have to worry about working again like all you smart people.

To be fair though, I can't do anything other than the simplest maths, though I think you will all find my spell is sooperberrb.

I feel like the lucky people are saying they'd pick smarts, and the smart people are saying they'd choose lucky. If you haven't got luck, you're fucked. No amount of intelligence will prevent that unlucky stray bullet hitting you.
