So, You go out walking and you spot two dirty $20 notes on the side of the road that are slightly stuck together, with a was they should be fine, they look like they've been there for a while. You look around and you cant see any sign of people or cars. What do you do?

Personally I would just keep it, I live in a reasonably upper-class area and I still don't really trust the police to be quite honest..I'm not even sure where the nearest police station is but it cant be nearby. If it was a larger amount of money or if there was a wallet then yes, of course I'd bring it in.

Be honest guys (in this thread anyway :p) What would you do?

If it was just $40 then I just bought myself some gas.

.......what? I drive around a lot.

If it was more I'd totally take it in to the police because I don't know why someone left that load of cash behind and I would want to drop it off and not be associated with it anymore.

I found a $50 note on the footpath a couple of weeks ago.

If it's just a money of the ground, I'll pretty much always pick it up. No way to trace it back. If it's a wallet, yeah then I'd get it back to who owned it.

It's dirty and worn and it's been there for a while.

Chances are, no one is coming back for it and it was found outside and opposed to inside a building.

That cash is so mine. No matter how much.

I'd hand in a wallet. Loose money is fine but anything clipped together or neatly settled in something... not so much.

if it's just money it doesn't matter as the police probably will just pocket it themselves as you can not trace who last had the money, unless there fingerprints where on the police database.

If it was just cash I'd just take it, although I'd be worried after taking it I'd get surrounded by cameras and find out I was a surprise test subject for What Would You Do?.

If it was a wallet I'd turn it in.

Me and dad were driving to work when I spotted a hundred dollars(Australian) on the road not long ago, It was next to a four wheel drive and we went into this building it was parked opposite. Found the owner of the car and Dad asked him if he was missing anything.

He said he was and we gave him the hundred, but he saw the money so he might have figured out why we were asking if he was a quick thinker. Still unless hes a skilled liar im confident it really was his money, mostly.

Still if its fourty dollars that like someone else mentioned shows signs its been there a while I would probably resign myself to never finding the owner and keeping it.

If it was a larger sum I would probably give it to the police.

Take it. I obviously need it more than someone who is too stupid to put their money away properly in their wallet and doesn't realise when they lost it. Handing it into the police would be no good, anyone could just claim it.

If it was in a wallet with ID, I'd leave the money there and hand it into the police.

I would take it, no matter what amount of money it was. If it was a wallet...I would likely take the cash out of it honestly but I would bring the wallet to the owner's place at night and leave it in their mailbox with a note.

If it were just cash, I would totally take it. As far as I'm concerned, if you lose money, its likely your own fault, and I wouldn't begrudge someone who picked up any money that I dropped.

I would keep it. There is almost no chance of finding whoever lost it. If I had misplaced $40, I would be annoyed with myself, but I would just accept that I'm not going to be seeing the money again and move. I doubt whoever lost it is putting up lost posters and filing a report with the police.

In fact, once I went skiing on a holiday and we rented ski suits. Inside the jacket pocket of mine was two $20 notes, which I kept.
