Kanto: Bulbasaur.
Johto: Cyndaquil
Hoenn: Not really sure about this one. I originally chose mudkip, simply becasue I hadn't had a water starter before, but now I think torchic is the better pokemon, especially when it's evolved,

If i had to choose out of the first three though it would be Squirtle, he's black fo' sho'.

In Platinum, The Char trio can learn Thunderpunch, which makes my shiny Charizard awesome

Oh, and for those of you who care, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, the long awaited remakes of the Gold/Silver journeys through Johto, you get an added little bit of fun now too - you can now pick any of your party Pokemon to follow you around in the world, much like Pikachu in Yellow.

Totodile, I like the fact that all tis forms acatully (some what) look like a real animal.
