The problem is that there are just too many people here. It's great for a thread creator but not for a poster. Your voice just gets lost in the horde.

It's due to an inherent assumption that anyone new to the site has little idea of what they're talking about, which is wrong.

People don't respect my opinion here and my post count is huge,
True story. Also you should meet @Redlin5

Anyway, as in the world of Poke'mon, your true worth is decided by the prestige of your displayed badges =D. Anyone who immediately dismisses your argument due to your low post count is a retard if your argument is valid. If the argument itself is invalid/inexplicable/etc, then no amount of posts will save you. Like the guy last week who got suspended for posting his furry love thread. Although I think in his case he had priors against him.

Trust me, people with higher post counts can get equally flamed for saying 'stupid' things. I am proof of that ; )

People with low post counts can get many page threads if they have something worth saying.

If you have a low post count, and say something 'stupid', you might get ignored or named troll, but that's just how the www works.

EDIT: I just saw a guy (post 3) with over 60k posts? WWWHHHAAAA?!?!?!

While I think that number is fucking crazy... I think that his post here is good because I agree with it, it makes sense to me. Same would go if his post count was at 10. But I do admit I was a tad taken back at his post count... especially since I don't recall ever seeing him post!

Say something worth notice, and you'll get noticed.

To be honest, I (and likely most of the other people around here) am more likely to tell someone off for saying something stupid if they have a high post count/early join date than if they're clearly new. The mods are harsher on older members too, for that matter.

[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]Besides, whoever said it was join date that mattered was right. Anyone who can last more than a year or two is practically an ancient around here, despite the fact that the forums have been around since, what, 2004? The moderations system is set up so older members are more likely to get banned than newer ones.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

the only post count I follow is my own. I tend to look at joined date over that anyway. Ironically I lurked for a year before joining so I don't know why I pay attention to that anyway.

I have not found this to be true at all. I was never dismissed due to my post count back when I first started. You're also assuming a lot on behalf of people with low post counts.
Yep, I'm with this guy (or girl).

On my previous account which I made about 4 years ago,(and before you ask, no, I am not ban jumping. Have no idea what the password or email is for it is when I accidentally logged out one day) low posts counts did tend to get you singled out. Funnily enough, as the older Escapees have left, the community has become a great deal more mature.

I haven't seen one person being singled out for having a low post count in a while. Definitely haven't seen any since I made this account a few months back.

The one thing I accuse myself of is thinking people who don't have avatar's sort of throw me off. Because I'm an elitist prick like that.

How the...? Oh, I see. Cool.

OT: No, nobody here really cares about post count. I look at it to see just how many posts they have. I've never though, "Oh, low post count, ignore/think of as stupid". I've seen jerks here with far more posts than me, and I just ignore them.

I've never seen this problem on the Escapist, could you provide the links to where you saw this problem?

I dunno....I mean look at The Cool Kid. He's got a (relatively) low post count and doesn't even have an avatar but people notice his posts.

Granted a lot of the time those posts are noticed for the wrong reasons...

I have seen that thread a lot around here. It always seem to be on the first page. I honestly stopped posting in that thread a while ago. I kind of wish that it would die so we could have new threads. We need new threads, not the same old boring ones. Even if they are about Nazis.
*double take*

Waaaaait a minute . . . THAT'S YOUR THREAD!!

You should be happy, every time I make a thread it drops like a stone.
YAY! You win the contest! But seriously I do wish people would stop posting. It is just people arguing about things now. Not even with me, just with over posters. I already got the 10,000 view badge and not many new people are seeing it. It is just the same guys who are arguing about flags and nazis.

Also on this subject, to the OP, look at me! I only have 97 posts and I already have a 10,000 view thread! If people ignored what lower post people said then I wouldn't have that popular of a thread. When I posted that I had about 50ish posts.

Oh...Oooh.

Well, aside from the occasional banters here and there, I haven't seen nor experienced any kind of bias based upon my post count or another users post count.

As the illustrious Escapists have already told, Post count does not matter.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Or night.

Hater's gonna hate...

Also I've never seen anyone judge me or others that have low counts, but if someone who happens to post something dumb or questionable have low post counts, then I guess that's just random luck...

I barely look at other people's post count. In fact, if threads get really large like this, I barely even look at other people's posts (past the first page anyway). Then again I don't exactly have a high post count either.

I remember back in my times getting a thousand posts was like a badge of honor.

But these kids these days have posts of twenty thousand. And i just think to myself... This person, with improvement and patience, could write a fucking novel.

But then i go back to almost getting banned because i say "controversial stuff" which gets my angry and then actually want to say "controversial stuff"

I have no idea why i got a "Don't Troll" warning. Everything i said in that post is 100% true.

Maybe the part where i exclaim the person reading (most likely OP) to suck it was unneeded. But regardless. I left high school a year early and enter middle college. AKA going to college for high school and i still got a HS diploma. My parents did drop out of college and high school. And my dad HAS been to singapore.

Argh being passive aggressive when relooking at my warnings.

I have a low post count but have never been looked down upon, maybe I am just one of the lucky ones?

I haven't come across someone who has ignored a person because of their low posts, and if someone did do that I would write them off as an ass hole...and there are plenty over the interweb

I guess that make's scence it's just i have been reading through a couple of threads today and more time's than i would like people have called others a noob beacuse they have a low post count.
But i guess most people arnt that bad. I wonder how we can fix the few that do?
The only time I ever take someones post count into account is if they have a Neo or Morpheus badge underneith their names. I am currently trying to get the Neo badge because it means you can pretty much voice your opinion in a way that is acceptable here on the Escapist/not being an a-hole while posting your opinion.

i will only disregard someones opinion if the their post count is low (like 20 or less) AND if their opinion is very harsh but that's because i just assume they are a troll besides that i really don't care

The only things that lower my respect for someone is personal attacks and flogging the English language.

The only time I've seen post count come up has been in Forum Games, for obvious reasons.

Pfft... I have quite a respectable post count and even I think I'm a jackass!

But seriously, really? One particular user has only a couple hundred posts to his name and I respect his opinion a lot...

On the other hand a fair few users don't bother posting in coherent English and they have 4/5 figure post counts. Granted some of them make good points but others are right twats, so I'm *meh* at best about them...

Consequently, here is the thread's biggest jerk thus far: *points at self*
yeah but the difference is you ARE a jackass.

[sub][sub][sub][sub]Really though, I love you.....Please don't make me hurt you[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

My opinion is that if you cannae manage to form a coherent sentence then your opinion is probably not worth that much. I post somewhat infrequently now as opposed to when I first got started on the site. Sometimes I get quoted, sometimes not. But I do it for me. Not for everyone else. It makes me happy to get shite off my chest on certain topics. This one though was more for shits and giggles with me. Post count doesnae matter (even though I'm determined to pass a few certain people's post counts) what matters is the content you put into your posts.

[sub][sub][sub][sub]Scots wording added for you Sckizo, my love, just cause I know you love it when I use it ;][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
