I pretty much just pick the best looking pokemon that I know I will encounter along the way. If it's a pokemon that only comes out in late game, I use cheats to get it early and train it.Drathnoxis said:Hmm, well I don't remember them all. I've reset a couple of times, sometimes by choice sometimes by accident. Also how do you even determine it based on a team of 6? Over the course of a playthrough I might change out some of my long standing members for new ones. In any case a good number of my team compositions have been lost to time. Here's the one's I can verify:
My very first playthrough of Crystal and first team registered on Pokemon Stadium 2:

Level 81 Feraligatr and everything else a couple levels higher than what you catch them at. I think I was 9 at the time. Everything else will be from a playthrough that I did as an adult though.

Pokemon Blue

The team I beat round 2 of Pokemon Stadium 2 with. Probably the strongest team I have ever or will ever make. That game was so tedious, but I needed Dodrio Mode to play Crystal at 3x speed to make completing the Pokedex bearable.

I remember back in Gen 1, I would raise a Butterfree for the sole purpose of beating Onyx if I had started with Charmander, or if I was playing Yellow and was stuck with Pikachu.Saelune said:Also shout out to the Butterfree I used in Leafgreen, I dont remember the full team, but Butterfree was the star of that team. Seriously, underrated pokemon.
Let's never forget the severely underleveled Butterfree that defeated Lance in the first Twitch Plays Pokemon stream. Butterfree is champion tier!Saelune said:Also shout out to the Butterfree I used in Leafgreen, I dont remember the full team, but Butterfree was the star of that team. Seriously, underrated pokemon.
My Butterfree had Gust (flying), Psychic, Silverwind (Bug), and possibly Giga Drain (Grass), so it was great against Bug, Fight, Grass, Dark, Psychic, Poison, Ground, Rock and Water. It was my Star Pokemon of that team.Drathnoxis said:Let's never forget the severely underleveled Butterfree that defeated Lance in the first Twitch Plays Pokemon stream. Edit: Crap! ATV was a Venomoth! An All-Terrain Venomoth -_-
nvm BUTTERFREE SUCKS!
Thats a very good move set for versatility. I wonder if Beautifly can do that as well. I have to try that out in the black and white rom hacks.Saelune said:My Butterfree had Gust (flying), Psychic, Silverwind (Bug), and possibly Giga Drain (Grass), so it was great against Bug, Fight, Grass, Dark, Psychic, Poison, Ground, Rock and Water. It's only until recently in which I started giving nicknames to some pokemon. I only do it if I don't like their name or if I'm in the mood.Specter Von Baren said:What are some of the names you've called your pokemon? My first, my Squirtle I named Blaster because of what I knew his final evolution would be.
My Feraligater I named Krackle because of his jaws, Xatu was named Totem (For obvious reasons) and my Magcargo was named Raphael (Because he was red).
My Poplio I named Shiri, it means 'My song' or 'song of the soul', Lurantis was named Quartet, my Salazzle was named Amethyst, my Gigalith was named Echo, Goodra was Lavender and my Mismagius was named Maple, after the witch from the Oracle games.
In the earlier games I don't think I gave any particularly interesting names for my pokemon but I've become much more particular about what I name them and spend far more time than I probably should coming up with a name for them.
