Pro Wrestler Pitches Perfect Game in MLB 2K11, Wins Nothing
In January, 2K Sports announced the return of the $1 million prize [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106755-Pitch-a-Perfect-Game-Win-a-Million-Bucks-With-MLB-2K11] for the first person to pitch a verifiable perfect game in MLB 2K11, which came out on March 8. The same contest ran in 2010 and although the marketing mileage was cut a little short when the prize was claimed on the very first day, that didn't stop 2K from taking another swing at it.
Predictably, the same thing happened this year: on March 8, the same day that MLB 2K11 came out, Stevie Richards, the master of the YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iswIyS6yuIE]. And then he didn't win a million bucks.
2K decided to put a little pepper on it this year, you see, by having the contest begin not on launch day, as it did last year, but on Major League Baseball's opening day - which doesn't happen until April 1. It's a boon for everyone who weren't able to pick up the game as soon as stores open on launch day, but it sure is a kick in the junk - followed by a double-knee facebreaker and a trash can to the head - for poor Stevie.
