Protect More Little Sisters in BioShock 2 DLC

2K Games has announced more downloadable content for BioShock 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Bioshock-2-Xbox-360/dp/B0016BVYA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1277992752&sr=8-1 ], this time for the single player game.

If you enjoyed guarding the Little Sisters while they harvested Adam in BioShock 2, then you're probably going to like the new single player DLC, Protector's Trials. The new pack lets you once again take on the role of a Big Daddy and defend a Little Sister against packs of Splicers across six new maps based on locations from the main game.

2K president Christoph Hartmann said that 2K Marin has been working on expanding the single player content since the game had launched, and that Protector's Trials would be some of the most challenging gameplay in the BioShock series to date. He also said that fans should expect more single player DLC in the future: "This is just the beginning," he said. More single player content is on the way that will deliver more of the intense action and story-driven gameplay that fans have been craving."

While there are those who didn't enjoy the Adam harvesting sections of BioShock 2, making it its own thing seperate from the narrative sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Protector's Trials is due to be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 3rd. It will cost 400 Microsoft points, or $4.99, and has seven new achievements/trophies.

Well, at least it is better than random characters. I hope some of the future DLC expands the story, or adds new areas, or something else like that that goes into the campaign to make it better.

I enjoyed protecting the Little Sisters in Bioshock 2 2K, but that doesn't mean I want to shell out on MS points just to do it some more in different locations.

Seriously, this kind of crap is making me lose respect for 2K. I loved Bioshock and Bioshock 2 was great, but all the DLC so far as has been absolutely abysmal and pointless, yet they are still charging for it.

Why would we want to buy trials (that are for levelling up only), masks (that we cannot even see) and the ability to level up to rank 50 for no reason at all?

There is a reason it has been given 2/5 by the Xbox community 2K, it sucks.

i didn't buy the 2nd game purely because it seemed like an entire game of doing my least favourite part of the 1st game (protecting little sisters)..and because i didn't have enough monies

WHy would I want to pay to do something that felt like busy work during the full game?

Most of the time it just ate up most of your first aid kits and hypos, you only have to do it about 3 times then you find everything else you need, why would I want to pay to do more pointless busy work?

I am 100% sure Yahtzee would foam at the mouth if he was forced to play through something like this, given that he had called escorting the little sister in Bioshock 1 as 'the worst part of the game'. Still...I'd watch such an episode just for the lulz of it heh.

Wow. Paying more to replay the shittiest parts of the game on recycled maps? I don't think I could possibly be less interested.

Is anyone really still playing this?
I was going to re-play it to get the bad ending (harvesting the little sisters)
but...Iunno, I uninstalled it already.

This was my least favourite part of the game, and gave up on these parts because I or the lIttle Sister would die repeatedly and more atempts became impossible because you'd constantly run out of ammo. I don't think I'll be getting this.

.... Wasn't that everybody's LEAST favorite part of the game?

Seriously, I thought we were all in agreement on this one!

We all agree that Mass Effect is amazing, we all agree that Half Life is better than Halo, and I THOUGHT that we all agreed that escort missions suck!
Dammit 2K, you disappoint me again.

First you charge us for what's on the disc, and now this.

Yeah, agreed (ninja). It kinda reminds me of the Spec Ops missions in CODMW2...yeah, they're fun...but...

Exactly my thoughts. Why not make the next DLC all about the hacking mini-game, or shooting yourself in the head repeatedly?

Christ I liked the protection parts of the game, they were the most challenging and required the most tactical play the game could offer. I'll qualify that statement by saying that I'm an FPS head and BS2 gameplay was good enough for me to look past the lack of story born motivation. I'll be happy to buy this for a fiver.

They should make it co-op, then it'll be kind of like nazi zombies with a twist, or defending on a game of Capture the Sister (which needs some serious tweaking, but is still quite fun).

Addendum: I enjoyed some of the "defend your sister" locations - some of the layouts were much better suited for defending than others - and it wore its welcome out before the end (although to be fair, you don't have to do it much at all in the main game, you'll be swimming in Adam one way or another).

The "random characters" do add to the story of Rapture, though. That's what makes that DLC worthwhile.
