Roderic tossed the trapdoor open, putting some force behind it just in case someone happened to be lingering nearby. As luck would have it, Roderic found himself undisturbed by any noticeable foes as he made his way up and out. If he wanted to have any chance of keeping this ship, it would mean that they would need to get it moving. Meaning he would need to get to the front of the ship to get the controls of this monster going in the right direction. Meaning that the melee that was nearby was going to have to be ignored.

So, the mage....and muscleman made it over? Not sure if that is good fortune or a curse, but maybe they can pull off this little trick. Would be nice to not have to kill everyone in the command cabin myself.

"Engbyr! Dagon! WE ARE TAKING THIS SHIP! THIS WAY!" Roderic shouted, and since he was behind the melee of foes that were tangling with the others, made his way to the front of the ship where there sat a good, no doubt locked, door. That was the prize that he was after, and it of course didn't have much in the way of guards...because most of them had gone to likely distract them in the melee, meaning that likely the command crew inside was bare bones. Just enough to keep them sitting still.

Seems no one ever plans for a good adventurer to come along from the underside and ruin things. Their loss, is my gain.

Roderic stepped to the door, and glanced about. Other than the screaming and fighting in the very small distance away where the boarding was happening, it seemed oddly quiet here. Keeping a low profile was probably the better idea than charging into some foolhardy battle to 'cut the lines'.

Kneeling down to look over the lock, he couldn't help but grin at the simplicity. Big tough wooden doors, but the lock was a simple one. He only would need a moment...and then a bit of help when he burst inside. He could throw knives pretty fast, but also bet that anyone stomping through this door was going to get a facefull of whoever was on the opposite side.

'Finally made it.'

The mage breathed a sigh of relief as he made it to the other ship. By chance or by Famfrit none of the blue soldiers noticed him. He took one look back at the malformed airship he came from before something called his attention.

"Engbyr! Dagon! WE ARE TAKING THIS SHIP! THIS WAY!"

He was not sure whom the Elezen was calling out to, but since he was not in blue it must have meant he was a friendly. The mage moved to where the Elezen was who seemed very focused on something. A look back showed him that nobody seemed aware of their presence, or perhaps the sheer distraction that a Yuke was making. There was also some haze forming inside his head as he got closer to the door.

'You?re getting-'

'Getting what?'

'-I will n-'

'Are you being attacked again?'

"What are you saying Famfrit?" His head cocked back to the airship where Famfrit was. He could barely make out his armor in the dark fog its wounds gave off, but something else was steaming off of it in great amount. It shone in many colors and gave off a bright light. All this time, the spirit was very silent.

"Famfrit?" The mage called out, hoping for a response.

Dagon was covering Roderick as he opened the door. "Taking your criminal talents and using them for the good of the world! Wonderful!" he delivered a big kick to the first enemy rushing towards them. He then grabbed him by the feet and started swinging him around, throwing him towards the next bunch of foes. He then saw an archer fire an arrow, ducking beneath it.

"Have at you, coward!" he shouted, running towards the archer as he prepared another shot. Right as he had his bow drawn back and ready to shoot again, Dagon grabbed his arm and hoisted him onto his shoulders. "FLY LIKE AN ARROW, FOOL!" He jumped into the air, spinning around as he turned upside-down, placing the archer between Dagon and the ground as they slammed into the ground. "Hurry, Roderick! Even DAGON SETH can only fight so many!"

Roderic could only smile as the others seemed to come to back him up. While the mage Engbyr was a little bit untrustworthy with magic, he knew there was some destructive power with him. And Dagon was....Dagon. They would give him cover as he worked the simple lock, which was slightly interrupted when an arrow slammed into the door above him. Roderic was only fazed for a moment, proceeding to finish his quick business. Slipping the tools of his trade back away, he pulled out his knives.

"INSIDE! WE'RE TAKING CONTROL, AND LEAVING THESE FOOLS OUTSIDE! MOVE IT!" Roderic shouted, throwing the door open and throwing a knife at the nearest moving being in the room.

Unfortunately, the nearest moving thing was an armored knight which took the knives easily enough and spun to address the new intruder with an axe. With a broad swing, Roderic jumped to the side, his focus on the knight, as well as the other mage who apparently was inside as well. There also seemed to be a fighter, and a well decorated lady who also could be assumed to be the captain as she spun to see who had entered into the cabin.

Probably quicker than they thought! No one ever expects me to do anything it seems. Roderic smirked, only for it to fade after getting hit with a surprise swing of the axe on the broadside slamming him against the wall. That hurt, but Roderic knew he wasn't going to be taking it easy till the others were inside, and these guys were dead.

"INSIDE, DAMMIT!"

The call came out from the Elezen, and having only him as some guidance, the mage barged through the door following after. The first thing he noticed was a large warrior with an axe in close proximity to him and the rogue. He raised his axe ready to split the Elezen?s head against in twain, but before he could go through with the motion, the mage already had a thunder spell on his lips. The warrior was zapped by golden lightning and topped to his side. His gaze went to the Elezen.

?Are you alright?? he said.

From the corner of his eyes he saw another warrior charging at the two of them. He was far too close to prepare another spell, so the mage prayed that his knife could help him again...

"INSIDE, DAMMIT!"

"Worry not! DAGON SETH shall remove all obstacles, and we shall seize this ship in the name of..." His fighting had drawn his attention to the east, and he noticed something. Something far... but clearly big. "Uh... guys?" his voice was noticeably different, and his arms dropped to his side. "Guys, you're gonna want to take a look at th-" his words were cut short by a sudden chill, as an enemy mage cast a Blizzard spell at him. He managed to jump out of the way before the flurry hit him in full, but he was still disoriented.

"Right. Inside. Easier that way. Problem can wait. Fighting, now!" his voice was back to its usual bombastic tone, and he ran in past Roderic. "Behind me, comrade! I shall clear a path! And then we'll think what to do about that big thing in the distance. ONWARD!"

Roderic gave a quick nod at the mage, noting that there was something off about the mage. Dismissing it as the heat of battle, he tossed a few knives as Dagon charged inside. The knives were largely ineffective, either missing their mark, or being deflected away, but Roderic wasn't interested in the harm aspect. Just a distraction so he could rush back to the door to slam it shut. This was the wonders of lockpicking...turning the lock back around, especially when the door was of the heavier style.

"There...now where were we? Oh yes..." Roderic said, turning back to face the few foes inside...and taking special note of the controls in the area. They didn't even need to kill them all right away, just get them away from the controls to get the ship moving. It would at least give them a bit of motion, since the captain seemed to think they were stuck there.

"I am indeed fine, my good Engbyr. Lets clear this cabin, and get this ship moving!" Roderic said, now throwing knives at the warrior that had been struck by the lightning before. Needed to make sure they were dead, and then onward to the mage, captain, other warrior, and....sharpshooter it seemed? No matter. Easy targets, and quickly cleared....

Engbyr?

Combat took a strange turn as the Yuke entered the fray; the mage could not quite pick out what happened as different things happened too close to unison for his adrenaline-hazed brain to pick out. What he did process was the warrior approaching him was shoved aside; every other data was shelved away. He?d ask about who he was later.

He saw one mage in the midst of casting a spell and he braced himself for a magical impact. To his surprise the effect never came. What did happen was a slim sword that the jacketed woman had secretly drew began to emit a hoary fog around the edges. She charged, and he directed a Fire spell her way. He expected the new combatant to fall after one strike, but to his surprise she powered through the burning. She spoke something he could not understand before lunging the hoary sword into his stomach.

He felt no pain, but could feel his body tremble to the floor. Cold. His belly felt numb and frozen in place. Mustering what will he had left, he cast another Fire spell at her. She looked more scorched but still stubbornly resisted. She pulled her sword out of him - a black coat of ice covering the metal that stuck in him - and slashed across his chest. Fortunately the edge cut only leather and layers of cloth rather than flesh, and only an deathly chill remained.

The robed? mage... fighter left him to pursue the Elezen and Yuke. There was something odd with that one like she had some kind of protection, especially with that sword that had ice infused into it. He looked at the blue mage and noticed him in the midst of maintaining a spell. He could read the mage's words as they left his lips and he understood.

"Somebody kill that mage!... He's powering that woman's attacks!"

Dagon swatting away the first line of defense when he turned to see the mage get cut down. "ENGBYR!" He rushed towards the captain, keeping a distance from her sword, but getting blocked at every turn. "This one is fast. Unexpected for who fights for the unholy!" It was then that the mage's warning was called out.

"Somebody kill that mage!... He's powering that woman's attacks!"

He ducked under another swipe, finding the enemy mage. "Aha! Roderick, cover me!" he shouted, rushing towards the mage. "Hurricane Lariat!" He hit the mage with a clothesline, sending him upward, crashing into the ceiling. As he fell down, Dagon caught him by the legs, placing them on his shoulder and slammed him back-first into the floor. He had little time to make a declaration before the Captain was once again on him.

Roderic had been busy with tossing a few knives at the sharpshooter and other warrior that they were dealing with, when the call went out for the mage. Engbyr had been cut down by the captain who was apparently not too concerned with magic, and actually seemed to be encouraged by the stuff. He was going to let Dagon take care of the problem when suddenly he had another call go out.

"Aha! Roderick, cover me!"

"God damned..." Roderic muttered, only to follow through to stop the Captain as Dagon went to take out the problematic mage that was apparently helping the Captain. Which now fell to Roderic to take care of, which as he let a knife fly the Captain spun to meet the blade. Roderic moved to deflect a blow from the Captain's blade, only for suddenly ice to go creeping up the blade.

"GAH! DAMMIT!" Roderic cursed, dropping the now frozen blade and having to back off, unable to effectively handle the icy opponent. Of course, with their mage down it meant that their hands had gotten a bit more full having to deal with the problems as the sharpshooter fired too close. Roderic saw that Dagon now had the other mage under control, and went to take care of that particular ranged problem before it became more than a minor threat in the closer quarters.

"Careful Dagon! Some ice is in that blade!" Roderic shouted, stepping in close to use his blades to their fullest effect on the sharpshooter.

The Esper's attack gave mixed reactions to the opposing crew. Some fled from it to wherever they could go on either airship, others started attacking it, mostly with magic. Their reactions didn't matter, as a lot of them were washed off with Famfrit's water attack, to be sent to their death via gravity. The ones who had gotten onto the Alexander and were attacking the warriors there were overtaking them. Both sides managed to kill someone from the opposing side, but the Halvorian warriors were losing.

Some of them still managed to come to Mira's aid when she called to them to cut the lines. Yuria, on the other hand, followed some of the others who had jumped over to the opposing airship, following them down to the control room. When she got to the open door, she saw Roderic having trouble with the captain of the ship, shouting something about ice being in her blade. Then we should counter it with fire. She headed for the captain, her free hand casting a Fire spell as she raised her sword. The Fire spell hit the captain, who turned around to face Yuria, but not quick enough as she got a hit in with her sword, striking her arm. Unfortunately, it was the captain's free arm, so she still had the sword.

The captain struck towards Yuria, who jumped back, with no intention of getting hit with a blade with ice in it. In quick preparation, she cast a concentrated stream of fire on her own blade. It wasn't as good as a Mystic Knight's Fire Blade spell, but it was the best she could do before swinging towards the captain. Their swords clashed, and thankfully, Yuria's sword did not freeze. But it's temperature was still dropping, the fire spell wasn't enough to keep it at bay. Utilizing her magic, she cast another fire spell at the captain, who was getting more annoyed with the constant fire attacks. Yuria kept firing, though, and when the captain shielded herself, Yuria struck with her sword at the captain's feet, making her kneel down in pain before Yuria struck her sword arm, making her then drop her sword. Yuria picked it up and held both swords against the captain's throat. "Now be a good girl, and help us get this ship away from ours."

However, the captain just laughed. "It doesn't matter if I help, you're already too late. Your precious Alexia is burning as we speak." Yuria was shocked to hear that. Was their attack on the Air Tower nothing but a distraction? "Tell us, who do you serve?" She held both swords even tighter against the captain's throat. "Come closer." the captain said with a half grin. Her wounds on both arms and feet were staining her clothes red, making them more purple due to the blue color of them. "Just say it out loud so we all hear it." Yuria said to her, not intending on lowering her guard. "Tsh, fine. This is an Imperial airship. We serve the Empire. You Halvorians wouldn't have heard of us, since you're so isolated on your little island, ignorant of the rest of the world. But not anymore. Your crystals are ours!" A second shock came over Yuria's body. "No... not the crystals..." She looked towards the other three she'd followed into the room. "We have to let Mira know. After we get the Alexander loose, of course."

Dagon was about to be struck by the enemy captain when suddenly, Yuria of all people intercepted the captain. "Good show! Glad you could join us!" he said, deciding to leave the captain to her while he would take care of the remaining forces in the room. There was little standing in his way and between the three of them, the room was cleared soon. It was then he got to hear the Captain warn them about the Empire. "You fiends would DARE go after the sacred crystals? Well, DAGON SETH shall not allow this BLASPHEMY!" he said, striking the enemy captain unconscious.

We have to let Mira know. After we get the Alexander loose, of course.

"Actually... there's something else we need to worry about. First, we should tend to our mage friend. I'm afraid I haven't a potion on me. Second... well... there's something off to the east. Something large. And I think we should take care of that now. Preferably with the added firepower of this vessel. However, this is just a suggestion." Dagon would wait to hear the others weigh in on what to do. Things certainly developing into quite the conundrum...

Roderic shoved the sharpshooter back, off his knives as Yuria had come in to take care of their captain issue. However, it seemed that the captain of this ship seemed to be well informed, and for which Roderic was quite pleased that Dagon took some initiative and took down the captain with a well aimed smack to the back of the captain's head. With that annoyance out of the way, and them now in charge of where and when this ship was going, Roderic was going to be happy with whatever happened next.

"Yeah, if you know some way to heal him, that would be grand." Roderic said to Yuria, before regarding the rest of what Dagon had to say. "Well, if there is something bad coming from the east, maybe we'll just give em a going away present...or perhaps maybe engage them with this ship. Course, at this point I'd rather get back home to see what the crazy lady was talking about. If the city is...well, done, then I would think this has gone beyond our paygrade."

Taking a brisk walk over to the steering of the ship, he gave it a quick look over. Nothing too complex, it seemed. A quick push of the levers would get the ship moving, along with the other ship that was keeping them there. It would be a start to at least start moving. Of course, since he couldn't claim to be a captain in any sense of the word, he likely should wait for the good captain of their ship to give it a decision.

"Any thoughts on the situation? And what exactly did you see out there Dagon? Dragons? Another airship? Kinda a mess at this point..."

Engbyr?

His free hand went to his gut, covering the gash that spellsword left. A new warrior entered the fray. The woman fell to the newcomer. His body felt heavy, and numb to his senses. The mage tried to right himself back on his feet, but was stuck with his back against a wall. He could make out some kind of conversation being made, something about crystals.

Was this why they were all here? To find crystals? And what about these other places?

"...Second... well... there's something off to the east. Something large..."

Wait, what?

"... I don't think we're in any condition to face whatever is approaching." the mage spoke up. His eyes closed shut as his free hand pressed harder against his gut to keep blood from oozing out.

"We're still fighting off those blue enemies? and I've lost contact with Famfrit..." The mage's mind drifted, speaking whatever his mind approached. "They may have already taken over that ship... But are only those soldiers the only ones there? Maybe we could... take this ship and let whatever's coming take its course."

Lilianna fortunately encountered a knight carrying a double headed ax to take down. It made a significantly better cutting weapon than her mace or sword. She raised the massive weapon over her head, bringing it down on the ropes that held the Alexander in place. She trashed a few of the cannons as well, blindly swinging to get their ship loose. Finally, the ship began to rock, falling away from the Alexander, which jolted forward without the dead weight.

One thing down... Lilianna jumped out through the holes in the side of the ship and into the air again. She looked towards what used to be a speck on the horizon. It looked a lot closer now, but still a bit too far to tell what it was. She soared up above the ships, dropping into the enemy ship's crow's nest. After throwing most of the shit (food scraps, bird eggs, books...) out, she found a spyglass. It was in poor condition, but it was usable. She extended it and took another look at the oncoming shadow. Oh... shit... "Hostile ship off the starboard! Captain!"

She dove down and used her shield to knock a soldier off the side. From the looks of things, they were on the winning side of this small skirmish.

To describe what was coming as a ship would be grossly inaccurate - a massive construction the size of a small city, a spearhead of smooth black glass shot through with coursing energy and reeking with malevolence and the darkest magic. As it drew closer the buzzing began, less potent and blinding than in the Tower but somehow darker, like if you could just tune out the interference you'd hear whispers in a tongue that had been lost and should have been forgotten.

"Captain! The Alexander, rudder is unresponsive!" Mira tore her attention away from the battle to see the worst sight possible - the ship's wheel spinning with no effort and no effect.

"Abandon the ship!" The words were hateful to her, but she could see what was coming clearly. They had to run. Her crew didn't question and began fighting their way over to the crippled Imperial craft, the last blood of the Imperial troops beginning to spill. One of their soldiers raised a hand and pointed at what was coming.

"It comes! Ultima comes to save us!" She silenced the lunatic with a strike from her halberd.

"Get us moving as soon as all hands are clear!"

"Abandon ship!"

Lilianna knew it was going to be hard for the Captain to leave her ship, but it had to be done, she mused. If they were lucky, maybe they'd meet it again sometime. Thinking quick, she made her way to the Captain's Quarters, grabbing ChoCho and her bag, before going back up to make sure her sister made it across., and wasn't going to do anything stupid. She jumped across onto the smaller ship and stood up on the side, taking another gander at the "Ultima" through her stolen spyglass. What was it? Hopefully it made up for its massive size with no speed. Hopefully. It looked like most of the "warriors" had already made it to the other side: most of them had crossed to wipe out the Imperial soldiers. The crew was well-trained, and most had went across without needing further prodding. Even the wounded and unconscious had been efficiently moved over.

Lilianna tied up her bag to her back, getting ready for whatever would happen next.

"Abandon the ship!"

That shout that was now echoing all over the aircraft was the one that finally roused Rowen from his slumber in his chamber. Oh what the fuck is happening now? What did those idiots do? The listing of the ship he felt as he scrambled to remain upright told him whatever it was, it wasn't good.

Rowen quickly grabbed his belongings and hustled out of the quarters, doing his best to avoid slamming into things as he finally arrived above the deck. There were bodies scattered everywhere, and those who had been with him during the exploration of the tower were heeding the call in hopping across to another ship that had formed a border with the now rickety Alexander. "For fucks sakes, a guy can't get a decent sleep anywhere without ships going to hell and trees appearing and all this..."

Whatever had happened, he wasn't going to be getting a first hand account on it, that was for sure. Rowen made a beeline for the other ship, hopping across and managing to cover the short distance before landing with a thud on deck. Looking around at the faces he somewhat recognized, he asked, "OK, so someone want to fill me in as to what in the hell happened? I know I'm a heavy sleeper but it looks like a portal to bizarro world opened up while I was napping!"

Roderic felt the ship as it shifted from the lines apparently being cut...well, the ones that were not being pulled back in the very least. With a devilish grin, he manned the wheel, and pulled a pair of levers to get the fans which had been before focusing on just keeping them still towards a better position to get them moving forward. He could almost feel the ship seemingly rear back in order to sprint forward.

"Well, its gonna be either a goddamned sprint away from that thing that is approaching us, or a hell of a landing. Anyone want to guess which one we'll be getting?" Roderic said with a laugh, still enjoying the idea that he had stolen an airship. His biggest bit of loot yet!

Though, abandoning ship seemed to be the mainstay, as he noted a few more friendly faces racing around the ship to apparently get ready for their speeding away from this very bad place. Though, Roderic wouldn't be on the chewing end for leaving someone's compatriot behind. Besides, perhaps they would be distracted by whatever they were leaving behind...

Unless we could take BOTH ships. That would be a damned miracle at this point, but I think a pair of airships could be just what we need. Maybe we could even fight...whatever that is. Ah well, one can dream about it later.
