Prototype 2 Still Coming to PC

Despite the demise of Radical Entertainment, PC gamers will still get their dose of the Blacklight virus.

Yesterdays news of the unfortunate, effective Prototype 2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118179-Radical-Entertainment-Goes-Under], which isn't (or wasn't) slated to come out until July 24. Will it still ship on time - or at all?

It will indeed. "For PC gamers, rest assured that the PC version of Prototype 2 is still going to launch on July 24th as planned," the studio wrote on its Facebook page [https://www.facebook.com/radical.ent]. "And a special 'thanks' to the Prototype Army and all our extremely loyal and passionate fans for supporting Radical Entertainment. We couldn't have come this far without you."

I'm not entirely sure if a "we couldn't have done it without you" under these circumstances is sad or viciously ironic, although I'm strongly inclined to think it's the former. Radical had a long and storied history stretching all the way back to 1991, during which time it developed games for publishers including Microsoft, THQ, Vivendi and Fox, and while it's sad that the studio's been gutted, it's nice to see it going out with its head held high.

Fucking spectacular. It's like Activision is TRYING to get the "worst studio" title back from EA.

At least Prototype 2 ended in a rather conclusive way, all things considered. If anyone from Radical is around to see this, I just want to say...

Thank you for making one of my favourite games. Rock on.

I really, really, really liked the original Prototype, and look forward to the PC version of P2 so I can play it... It's a shame radical went down, I think they did a lot of my least hated triple A titles

Well at least some good news, even if not for Radical Entertainment.

[sub]And I wouldn't be surprised if Activision dismantled the studio now in order to draw attention to the PC port release, for sales and whatnot.[/sub]

well .... least the game is still coming out

and, like last time, i'll wait till its like $5 or something.

Activision is only getting the money now, no sense in paying full price

And this was why I was questioning why they delayed the pc-port like, 1 billion years later.

Most of the hype has died down, especially due to the current state of affairs. Good work Activision?

I really enjoyed Prototype 2, and I'm glad that the PC community will get the chance to play it.

On a more cynical note; In light of recent events, it basically just sounds like Activision is saying "Let these people keep their jobs? Ha ha, no. We will, however, make damn well sure that we get the PC gamers' money for our long overdue port!"

Exactly why I'm not gonna buy it. I'm sick of these powerful corporations closing down smaller studios because they're not making CoD every year.

Okay. You sir, I respect. I pre-ordered this MONTHS ago, only to find out it was going to be released three months after the console release. So I canceled it and bought Diablo 3. Fuck if that wasn't a mistake too. Horrible game in the otherwise fantastic series by the way. I might still get this, but I don't much care for Activision. I care for EA even less.
