*MASSIVE SPOILERS*

Prototype's story needs some massive explaining. Is there any cool guy out there with like...lots of free time or something that can explain to me exactly what happened? =P

(I've searched everywhere, and I can't find anything also)

So this is what I've gathered thus far: Alex Mercer isn't really 'Alex Mercer'...he's the Blacklight virus. Also, Greene is apparently the survivor of the Hope project in Idaho. At the end, you fight The commander-military guy who apparently is Greene's secret child (and thus, has powers). Here are the MANY things I don't get...

1. Who was the real Alex Mercer? Did he work for Gentek or something? Why was he 'running away' (which is what got him shot). People also say he 'released' the virus. I know he kind of dropped it err...I just don't really get this part really well (the REAL alex) <--also, what was his motivation for running out of Gentek in the flash-back

2. So the military guy (final boss)...why did he do everything that he did? To kill Alex? To kill New York City out of rage/vengeance? Or for power? I'm not so sure what he's all about

3. So in the end...who was the bad guy? The military? The scientists? What about that fat-military commander guy with the white mustache. Was he a true-villain too? What did these guys do to deserve villainy?

Eh...this is getting more schizo than I thought it would. I just don't really get the gaps in the story at all I guess. Thx in advance.

Alex Mercer is still Alex Mercer, it is kinda symbolic how he has all the memories, yet he feels like a different person.
1. Mercer threatened to release the virus, he was shot, dropped the virus, virus goes into bloodstream and poof.
2. The general or the specialist/supreme hunter? General wanted to contain the virus by bombing the place. The specialist was killed I think, and the supreme hunter disguised as him to use Mercer. Mercer then remembers he released the virus and did it all to himself in the end.
3. EVERYONE. The point is no one is this hero, everyone is acting for themselves, which I think is a nice change of pace.

N/m, I got the questions answered. Thx anyways, but if anyone was curious, here's my (accumulated) answers:

1. Alex mercer was a scientist type guy working on the blacklight virus, when he found out what it really was he stole a sample as leverage to try and expose gentek.
2. Cross wanted power, but he didn't have Alex's 'consume' ability. Therefore, he used Alex for the shtuff he couldn't do himself, and then tried to consume him at the last moment. What a mooch ! >_>
3. This was what a gfaq user said "First off for this let me point out that biological weapons are unforgiving and should NEVER be used in real combat, the military and the scientists were trying to create a virus that only affected ethnic groups. That in itself should tell you who is the villain and why they were."
