If the colours are messed up like you're saying, then it's probably the GPU. How exactly do the colours "mess up?".

Sounds like a video Carrrrrrrrrrrrrrd problem (Sorry, couldn't resist).
Check to make sure there aren't any loose bearings in the fan on the GPU, because lack of cooling creates a myriad of problems.

Sometimes that happens when you run out of memory, as I had a similar problem recently. How much RAM do you have and what OS are you on (32 or 64Bit)? Likely suspect is Paged Pool Memory, which is used in the background by lots of programs, things like AVG and some other virus scammers are pretty hungry for it, also running Steam with the In Game Overlay requires a lot. Changing the amount of Paged Pool Memory is possible but it can upset things further down the line so its not always advisable.

The other simple problem is Driver Conflicts so check you are up to date!

Uhhh i dont know but its not the power supply
It could be the power supply. Its happened to me with my ATI card. You may be using up more power than the PSU can give.

I have 2GB RAM
OK well then it doesn't matter if you are on 32 or 64Bit so ignore that, as the y can both address the full amount.

It could be you running out of memory if you are running a lot of background crap, as your graphics card (512MB? onboard RAM) only takes part of the game load.

First things first, check your Drivers.

Also if you have 2 monitors you can run your task manager in one and the game in the other and see how much of each memory type you are using. Thats a nice trick to help out!

Well, you definetly need more RAM to begin with 3-4 at least. As far as your graphics card it shouldn't have any problem running any games out there(some of the newest not on full graphics, but it will run them). As mentioned before, I would check your graphics card drivers.

Also, I hate to tell you, but you may need a new keyboard, your "R" seems to stick quite a bit.

One time I had a similar problem. It turned out to be that there was so much dust build-up in my computer that the fan had fallen down and was hitting against something. Massive repairs/replacements were needed, as well as a good cleaning.

2gb is plenty on XP, especially since standard XP can't detect/utilize 4gb.

@OP: More than likely it is a card error, but you could try updating your drivers for it first. Then you should try re-seating the card which involves taking it out of your motherboard, cleaning up the contacts and putting it back in. Other than that look up known issues with your video card on google, see if any of them fit your problems. Then start looking up whether or not your card is still returnable or not.

EDIT: Also check to see if the nVidia control center you have for the card includes fan control. If it does try cranking the fan speed to maximum, see if you get any better results after letting it run for a while. Most video card fans speed up only as the card gets hotter to save power, but as the card gets older it might not run so efficiently any more. There are also some 3rd party fan control programs you can find on google in case your CC does not include fan control.

Please do the following, hit Start>Run> and type in dxdiag and type down everything under specs. If its your GPU update the drivers, turn off the computer and check for any loose parts. If the problem persists I think it could be the PSU.

Trrrrrrrr is pretty vague o.o
As much as I'm probably way off here, are you sure it's crashing.

Bad colours
Monitor going black

If you've tried every fix and update, it sounds somewhat like your monitor is wounded -_-

If you're getting artifacting (funky rainbow like squares or colours appearing on the screen) then something is not right with your graphics card, however, without a dxdiag of your system it's tricky to see whether there's something very obvious.

It could be a duff drivers install, or it could be that your power supply is not powerful enough to cope with your rig when it is under stress (this is what stress tests were designed for), or even that your RAM / processor don't like the gfx card due to, again, a few possible reasons, or it could be something equally as fun, heat problems due to a dusty fan or whatever, though there are plenty of free bits of software around to monitor heat.

Essentially I think what I'm saying is we need more information to really help.

You need a 64Bit OS in order to address 4 gig of RAM and you shouldn't run a computer with 3gig because it wont be paired and it will actually slow the machine down (you see on your mother board the RAM slots are coloured in pairs; each of them is paired on a channel). If you put 4gig is a 32-Bit OS you can address just under 3gig of it but it can lead to other problems. Anyways 2GB is enough unless he's running a bunch of background shit, given the fact his G-Card has some RAM to share the burden.

EDIT: Ninja'd, hope you don't mind being told twice!
