This should have been more scathing. The PS3 has the ability (due to shit protection) to ruin lives.

Every company / service that stores your information has the ability to ruin lives. Until we actually learn how hard it was to get in (which we probably never will) it's kind of asinine to assume Sony was completely or even majorly responsible for this.

OP, the video was a pretty funny 11 seconds. But the jests at PS3 owners are starting to get a bit old. Especially considering that I was looking forward to picking one up in a month or two. If it ever gets back online, I probably will, but I will never, ever put my credit card into something online again if I can buy prepaid cards.

Nice choice. I think steam is the only thing I've ever put credit card info into. Steam and Wow, Yeah thats it. If theres some sort of prepaid cards, I suggest you use the SHIT out of them. Especially on the PSN.

I disagree, I think it's asinine to ever excuse a corporation for allowing your private information to 'be gotten' by any 3rd party in this way.

It is the responsibility of those with our private info to keep it private. Sony is fucked because of their negligence. The same would be true of Microsoft or Nintendo if the same thing happens to them. There is no excuse if even half of what is being reported is true.

I disagree. While you can't excuse a corporation for allowing your info to be stolen, you can't put the blame entirely on them. If you're mad at sony, it should be for them going "uh. yeah...uhh. your info, uhm. was um. stolen. Uhm. like 2 days ago..." not because they were hacked.
