I was watching the BBC show Watchdog which, for those of you who don't know, is a consumer advice/protection show where they expose shoddy businesses, and handle customer complaints. Now I haven't seen Watchdog for years, and by some chance I had it on in the background when they did a story about the PS3's Yellow light of death, and how it can be fixed in half an hour for little to no cost (not by the amateur at home btw, but with a special machine). Anyway my interest was piqued, and they ended the segment with a song by the great musical comedian Mitch Benn (if you haven't heard "Journey to the centre of Rick Wakeman" then I pity you).

Embedding is disabled on this video so you'll have to make do with a link. Here it is [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnklhEh3NJM]. Watchdog has definitely changed since I last saw it :) The video's youtube page also provides a link to the original Playstation story. I wish they had fixed MY PS3 before I shelled out a fortune for a replacement.

Fortunately, I haven't encountered this problem so far. And I've had my PS3 for 2 years now.

...It's probably gonna happen now that I said that.

Watchdog looks good.

I have had a PS3 since release. the same PS3 to be exact. I had no clue there was a yellow light of death. I knew about the yellow light on the front, but it flashes every now and again and nothing happens to the ps3. I am not too tech savvy as you can tell(or prehaps I just don't want to rip open my PS3). I guess this was informative.

The yellow light of death only happens with the original models. It was caused by some error which made both the red and green lights to flash at once, thus making yellow light.

The Yellow light sucks something awful, but paying $177 for "repairs" (they actually replaced mine with a refurbished model) and the week-long turnaround time aren't as bad as buying a new console.

I know. I saw the show and I was thinking this. My PS3 got a YLOD and it was out of warantee. I paid the £125, and it was replaced the next day. I thought it was a reasonable price for repair/delivery. This isn't like the 360 RROD. I just liked the song, and that Watchdog gets Mitch Benn to make them (I joined Twitter to follow him so he could try and beat Stephen Fry).

I like how everyones hyped up this like it's something new. I've known of the yellow light for like a year, and I already knew back then that it was only a 0.5% chance of it ever happening (Well, okay, maybe not the exact number, but I knew it was really low)

I don't know if this is the same video, but it contains the same message I would assume.

For those who can't watch the OP's video because of country restrictions.

I'll admit that was actually pretty damn good.

Though Sony pretty much owned Watchdog when it came to the facts about it.

Now you know how it feels when I get links to Hulu, and other US sites. I mean Youtube had loads of cool TV shows and such, but they didn't let the rest of the world watch them.

So much for a united internet.
