Ok so I got a new PSP, well new for me, it's pre-owned.

Anyway, It's a PSP 1000, my System Software is 5.00 M33-4, I know version 6.20 is out and about yet, the PSP update is suggesting ver 3.95 and is in the game tab.

I can't connect to PSN or playstation store and remote play is also hindered. Anyone got any ideas to help?

Also, already tried restoring default settings, to no avail and I can access the internet.

I'm stumped, please help.

EDIT: I didn't realise I had a custom firmware, now I'm trying to get back to normal, any help is very appreciated.

Try going to PSP update under settings.

I have something similar to that. I have the latest version but it keeps recommending me to get ver. 5.5

Download the newest version of M33?
How does one do that?
Go to Dark Alex's website (currently down right now), and download the newest release of M33. Or alternatively, just google it. Then transfer it to your PSP via USB, put it in your games folder, run it, voila, updated M33

Edit:

Is the M33-4 version the Custom Firmware released by DarkAlex?
If so, then you're going to have to make a decision, because CFW can't use PSN or remote play. Either just deal with the lack of PSN and remote play, or upgrade the PSP firmware to the newest Official Firmware from Sony.
Having been absent from PSP modding for some time, if this is the case, you may have to just bite the bullet.

It's not there, I have Network Update, but it always gets a DNS error even though I connect to the internet -_-

Ah I hate that. I think it means you couldn't connect properly or something.

All I can think o to fix this is using a different router.

I didn't realise I was on custom firmware, how do I jump ship back to normal?

Just update the normal over it. Your PSP should recognize the custom firmware as a really old version, so just have the PSP connect online and tell it to update the firmware.
