Damn if I'd have known Paypal was gonna be added I would have waited instead of doing it through bloody Amazon.

Hm...Now paypal available, which means I can actually get it now.....Do I want to? I mean, I like this site and all....but the funds....Well, thanks for giving the extra week. That will give me some time to better assess my financial standing.

Also: Paypal has never, ever failed me. It's the least shady online money-transfer system I know. Then again, I don't exactly know alot of online money-transfer systems.
That is because you're a consumer.

Many times, PayPal has locked accounts that generate ridiculous sums of money quickly, like the Something Awful Katrina Relief Fund. They stopped taking PayPal for subscription after that Dabacle iirc.

We've had trouble with them in the past too - that's why we didn't use them in the first place. But we also assumed that Amazon Payments, which says that it will work completely internationally, would work for everyone. Plus, nobody in our offices could imagine life without an Amazon account.

But obviously there are a lot of people, and places, that work better with PayPal. If that's how it has to be, I'm cool with it :p

It's a full year at once. 83 cents a month would really suck to collect ;)

So long as I'm not made to feel like a jerk for not paying for what I've always come to the site to enjoy for what has always been free, I don't care if they have subs.

Just because I want to experience the site as I always have doesn't mean I suddenly "don't support the Escapist" now that some things are pay-for

I will sign up for this if someone tells me how to cancel the subscription so I don't get billed annually.

Here, let me put out a theorem and see if the site staff agrees.

Visiting the Escapist = supporting the Escapist

Participating in the Escapist community = supporting the Escapist

Joining the Publisher's Club = supporting the Escapist

Balkanization? Cliques? Maybe it's because I only cruise a small percentage of the forums, but I don't see a whole lot of that. (Now, if you want to talk about the PC gamer / console gamer divide, more bitter divisiveness has not been seen since the War of Northern Aggression Civil War.) I worry that some of these folks may be seeing condescension where there really is none.

When you get down to brass tacks, we're all Escapists. At least, that's how I see it.

Please note that no one is losing anything due to the Publisher's Club subscription service, but those that are classy enough to sign up will gain a more enjoyable experience at The Escapist!
This is a bad sign. Now Nurb isn't classy! I wonder how Nurb feels about that?
I should have guessed, and from an Escapist dude! At first I was "an active member of the community", now I'm a "classless asshole that doesn't care about the site" since the subscriptions came about.

Super.

I saw ad-free and had to subscribe. Great job, considering everything else that I got with it was for me a bonus. That was a $10 well spent.
