Question of the Day, August 25, 2010

The Escapist's latest issue, "Second Banana," highlights the often unappreciated role of videogame sidekicks. Who would you want by your side?

If I had to have a companion by my side, it would have to be The Book from Nier...need a dry sense of humour to keep me entertained!

I would say companion cube. It does nothing annoying and only provides you with emotional support. Also if it comes in samller sizes I could fit it in my pocket.

Then i would choose the other compoanian of this game. ^.^

besides that ivoted for Navi, cause i actually liked her in the game and had not really that big of a problem with her calling.

If I can convert C-3PO into some form of handheld device then him. 3PO by a mile. If only because of his knowing 7 million languages or something like that. A universal translator would be useful as hell in this world.

None of these quite cut it for me... I'd rather be a sidekick anyhoo. That fiddle in the background position has always appealed to me.

Navi, because she always provides very useful insight into situations.

And besides, I don't find her overly annoying.

The Companion Cube, it will not threaten to harm me and in fact, cannot speak.

I have to go with Pikachu. Cute and cuddly, fairly intelligent, and it shoots lightning.

Can I pick Barry Wheeler? Does he even count? Because, y'know, he's like, awesome, and stuff...

Morte from Planescape:Torment. How else would I know where to get a good skull-job?

As long as he has the big wall-demolishing-laser-thingy from Tools of destruction, Clank.
He's like the ultimate Swiss army knife. Helicopter to giant laser to master of time to handy little backpack. All on top of his, quite frankly, epic laugh.

Clank. He can kick ass AND turn into a jet!

Calumon: Pikachu. I want a friend who I can talk to at height level when I don't fly.

I'm going with Pikachu. In practicality, it's extremely powerful. In other uses, chicks dig cute animals. And Pikachu would make the perfect wing-Pokémon.
