Hell, it isn't even all that satisfying when you get to kill him at the end. It would have been much better if they'd replaced him with someone halfway competent, that way his betrayal would actually mean something more than "good, now I don't have to deal with this idiot anymore".

Navi was annoying, but she was at least useful. The fairy in Majora's Mask was totally worthless. She didn't tell you anything useful about enemies at all.

I put in a strong vote for your cousin in GTA 4.

I haven't played Resident Evil 5, but I heard about the sidekick you get in it, I can tell already that game would've been better without it.

Sidekicks don't really bother me so much as do people in escort/babysiting missions. But Navi could get annoying after a while. And I usually just left the adoring fan in dangerous places and would come back later to see if he was alive.

The Duck Hunt Dog. Navi and "Do a barrel roll!" are too awesome to be removed, the dog on the other hand is just plain annoying.
