Question of the Day, December 21, 2010

Square-Enix recently unveiled its latest remake of Final Fantasy IV for the PSP [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106300-Final-Fantasy-IV-PSP-Collection-Beautifully-Polishes-Classic-Visuals]. Which other Final Fantasy should the developer remake next?

I agree with the previous, but if pushed...
VIII was my favourite, but that might be because I am enough of a genius to understand the junction system!

5 would be nice.

Loved the job system, and they remade 3 and 4 for DS, so 5 is the next logical step.

None.

Less remakes. More future greats.
Agreed.

Since that wasn't an option on the poll I went for VI, but I'd honestly rather them just focusing on making a new epic Final Fantasy.

Well, it wouldn't be a remake, strictly, but I'd love to see FFXII on PSP. Why not? Lower the res some, if you have to, but I'm sure the PSP could run it well enough.

Pool, you've got a few good ideas, but I'm gonna stop you here for a second.

By this time tomorrow, Final Fantasy 7 will have at least 40% of the votes.

Just give me ports to 360 or PC for classic games like Tactics.

I voted for 6.

None.

Square-Enix needs to sit in the corner and think about what they've done.

I further agree that they should stop remaking old games. Spend that time and money on something new, not something over a decade old!

I cannot tell you how irritated I am Final Fantasy VI, arguably the most well-written and well-executed of all the Final Fantasy games, keeps getting shut out of the remake game. And, I believe, the big reason for that is it's stuck in the shadow of Final Fantasy VII, a good, yet (let's face it, kids) INFERIOR game.

It's like being a fan of A New Hope, yet Lucas keeps remaking Phantom Menace...

I'd rather a new game in a return to form style ala FF9, but if we must have a remake I really want to see FFVI done.

I think they need to remake XIII with a proper version. Make XV in true nature to the FF series, not what we got with XIII

Why don't they just stop making or remaking FF games altogether? Can't they make a decent original title for once?

Give me a fully remade current-gen Final Fantasy VI, and I will forgive Square-Enix for everything. Even FFX-2!

None. They were just right for what they were. Can you really imagine a remake being as good (let alone better) than it originally was?

I voted VII since it's the only one to not use the updated spell brackets, e.g. Fire, Fira, Firaga and still uses Fire, Fire2, Fire3. Also it's the only one left with a terrible translation. (That guy are sick.)

Alternatively; a single player version of FFXI.
