Skyrim is going to have a problem similar to every Zelda game. Morrowind was so incredible that every Elder's Scrolls game is going to be compared to, and ultimately determined to be a disappointment because it's not exactly what everyone wants, in the same way that Zeldas are compared to Ocarina of Time.
Believe me, I greatly enjoyed Oblivion, but Morrowind is Bethesda's Magnus Opus, and I really hope that Bethesda learned something from Oblivion's feedback, but I don't think they did as much as most people wanted. It looks as if it they are dropping more of the RPG heavy roots in favor of a more casually approachable game, which might make it sell better, but the long term, rabid RPG loving fanbase is going to cry foul.
I'll buy it, but I hope I can play it with an open mind, and not compare every detail to Morrowind, like I pretty much did with Oblivion. Bethesda generally makes good games, so it will probably be a very good game, just not exactly the game I want.
