Hard copy. I like the instructions, plus I love the little feeling of elation one gets when one goes into the shop and sees the game, gleaming on the stand. It's one of life's little pleasures.

At least on the 360, downloading games is not "quick". Hard copy is nicer, sure it impacts more on the envi.... oh i don't even give a fuck. Hard copy is nice to have in your hands and look at on your shelf. Plus you can let your frieds borrow the game. I currently have GTA IV, MW1, Skate2 and FableII loaned to friends and I'm borrowing L4D and Dead Rising. :)

I don't know why people would get a game online if there's a physical copy available for the same price. I even buy Steam games in the local store if they're not download-only.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but for me there's nothing that implies ownership more than having a cpy of the game on my shelf. If I don't have a physical copy of the game I feel the same as if I was pirating it.

Even in terms of music, movies, or video games, I almost exclusively prefer having a hard copy somewhere. I have a game or two that are digital downloads, but I'd much rather have a hard copy.

After losing all my DLC games as my PS3 yellow dotted on me? Disc.

Though, I'm still confident that downloadable games are going on the rise, and very, VERY rapidly.

My general rule is:

Consoles: Physical copy. Makes more sense to pop in the disc rather than install it on the HDD which is only 60gigs (~10 games).
Computers: They don't necessarily HAVE to be downloads, but I like not having to fiddle with a lot of discs for my computer, seeing as I have a pretty big HDD anyway. (Yay, Steam!)

That being said, I will gladly bend these rules a bit, depending on offers in stores / on Steam, etc. And holding a pretty box in your hand is always nice.

The best offers are of course those where you get a disc in your hand and can register online to download it again if you should ever lose the disc (like Blizzard is doing now). Best of both worlds!

As a collector I prefer hard copies, but I'll still download games that are really cheap or don't even have hard copy versions.

Hard Copy. Takes up less memory, comes with a nice booklet, could come with some nice swag and I just prefer to have a physical copy of a game.

I voted hard copy. I prefer to have it in that form, but to be honest the vast majority of my more recent game purchases have been digital. The fact of the matter is that stores can't compete with the online specials.

Prefer the hardcopy, happy to either go to store, or, order online, but, at least then I know, unless a theft occurs of catatrophy. I will always own it
That's the thing.
Your digital copy can't be stolen, can't be broken, and you can't lose it.
Unless you manage to forget all your account details.

And even if you pose the argument that 'you don't know how long Steam will exist/support the game', that also applies in reverse.
In fact, it's far more likely that your own hard copies gets stolen or breaks than Steam bursting into flames.

Also, you don't actually own games.
In fact, you're probably breaking some copyright law by simply playing the game.

I like hard copies. I like jsut having a physical disc to play off of. Plus I like jsut wasting time wandering around game stores seeing what I can find. Cant do that online.
I do occasionaly buy off PSN / Live, but for full release I dont.

Hard copy but activate it on Steam so I can play without CD.

Normally though, I don't really care.

Hard copy, mostly cuz I love to read manuals during bathroom breaks :<

And I know I've always got a copy. With downloading I'd be scared of losing, deleting, internet crashing etc etc
Also with hardcopies you can trade them in or sell them or lend them to friends and so on

I can't buy physical copies of games, given that they are seriously overpriced where i live. So when i do, I buy trough steam.

Depends, PC I lean more towards download, as it is easier and there is no need to deal with CD keys. Console games I definitely prefer hardcopy.

I really prefer to buy the disk, but unfortunately, as a PC gamer I find those harder and harder to come by. Steam is usually much cheaper, though.
