I beat the Water temple on my first try in OoT, but that damn Star Fox level.

Well yeah, the water temple isn't HARD, it's just tedious back-and-forthing to raise and lower the water levels and clumsily dealing with the weighted boots. If anything, the fact that it's easy just makes it worse because you aren't even proving anything by beating the temple except that you're stubborn.

I was about to come in here and say I've never had a problem with any water level... and then JEB here reminded me of kingdom hearts... I actually had to play the game on mute, I am definitely not a fan of the little mermaid.

Kingdom Hearts actually was what got me "back" into Disney, amusingly enough.

Kameo's water level literally made me feel ill, it was so badly designed. I had to take it in 5 minute increments to avoid getting so dizzy I felt like I was going to throw up.

I HATE HATE HATED the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time *jumps on bandwagon*. However, I liked the water-themed stuff in Twilight Princess. I also don't see how the water level in Star Fox 64 is even a contender for worst. It was a pretty fun level, albeit hard.

All underwater levels terrify me more than annoy me. The unknown abyss scares the living shit out of me, to say the least.

As I recall, there was a pretty arse underwater level in Tomb Raider 4, made worse by how badly she handled while swimming. Plus, I've always hated the whole 'breath bar' thing.

Underwater levels never really bothered me. Not because of the water or anything, at least. Does that one level of Conker's BFD where you have to escape the electrified water count? That shit was frustrating as all dick.

It wasn't as frustrating as it was frantic, because you weren't sure if the sparks were close enough, because they seemed to get damn close before you actually lost.

This. The Water Temple was awesome. Some people just can't appreciate a challenge.

Isn't it possible to use a key on the wrong door and make the temple impassable? That's not a challenge. That's broken.

If that were the case, it would be broken, but it's not. That's a very popular rumor, but it's not true.

The brief water parts from Sons of Liberty were not fun, because you were essentially lugging a (soon to be) dead weight.

Now that I think about it there was some Tomb Raider game that I played that had an underwater level. You had to like set off some machine then move out of its way or else you died. You had to get through a certain part before you drowned too. Now that was hell.

If not that then I'd pick Crash Bandicoot's underwater levels.

I thought the water levels were done well in MGS 2 for tensity and Metroid Prime 3 for atmosphere however.

You can unlock a door however before need be and it makes the temple a lot harder because you have to run around looking for another key thats somewhere. But it does not make the temple impassable like the rumor states.

I voted Zelda, but oddly enough it wasn't for the Water Temple. As a child, I despised that level with every fiber of my being, and still hate it a little, but once I was playing in front of my little cousins, saying this was gonna be hard, and I beat the thing in one sitting. I had memorized the whole thing, with a few exceptions. Now, I may hate it, but I have a grudging respect for the designers for making such a challenge.

The reason I voted for Zelda was becuase, as someone before me mentioned, all the water levels tend to be the most annoying. From Link to The Past to Twilight Princess , but the real clincher for me was Majora's Mask. It wasn't as hard as the Water Temple the first time through, but it was certianly more annoying. So I vote for Zelda the same reason the people who vote Sonic vote Sonic; not for one level, but the series' record with water levels as a whole.

I was about to unleash a second-rate joke in this thread but nothing I can come up with can top this. The KH2 Underwater level was by far the worst section of the game and I am hard-pressed to think of a worse section of any game out there.

I'm not even going to try. You hit the nail on the head. This truly is the worst underwater level out there.
