...a gun to kill myself.
OT: I guess a 3DS? None of these seem that great.

I can't wait to see the 3DS for myself. I want to know whether 3D really works without the glasses(hopefully not like Jaws 3D).

You can't compare any of them to the 3DS. I'm so excited for this little gimmick. The thing is... I don't care that it's 3D and all that stuff. In fact, I think I'm going to turn off the 3D for the most part. It's just that it has so many developers making so many games for it... this isn't just like the DSi where it's slightly upgraded, this is completely new and the games actually look like... real games.

None, the 3DS seems impressive and perhaps I'll eventually get one, but the rest seem like pointless gimmicks to me.

I don't think I'll get any of them, but if I had to I'd get a 360 Slim. The Elite I have works fine, so no need to replace it.
That is what I was gonna say. Say, has your elite bricked?

I am. I'm somewhat surprised people actually want Nintendo's latest gimmick/cash cow. Admittedly the whole "portable game console" phenomenon sort of misses me entirely. Unless you're regularly stuck on a flight for over 5 hours I don't see much of a point to owning one of these. Even then I'd prefer a laptop... Can't think of a single portable game in the last 5 years (or, come to think of it, ever) that seemed even mildly appealing, and I don't see what's all the fuss over the 3DS...
I just think the results are to be expected.

The options were TWO motion control gimmicks, one of which is blatantly ripping off the Wii and the other has a fuckton of issues to be resolved before it might even be of any use. Not to mention that motion control isn't exactly popular on this forum. Basically, Move and Kinect were out of the running as soon as the poll was posted.

That leaves us with the 360 Slim and the 3DS.

I'm not saying the Slim is bad in any way, but I don't see why anyone would be particularly excited about it. It's another 360. There's not much to it. It's got a fancy case and all, but that's about it. Also, people who want a 360 already have a 360. Why would they need another one?

That leaves the 3DS, which is the only truly new piece of hardware in the poll. Sure, the 3D is a gimmick, but it is a lot more convenient than most 3D these days since it's the no-glasses variety. And is IS something new. Motion controls have been around for a while now, but 3D gaming is just starting to show up, and 3DS is the first dedicated 3D gaming platform. Also, last time I checked, the DS sold more than 360 and the PS3. Heck, I think it sold more than the both of them put together...

3DS is the most appealing of a fairly average bunch, for me. But if my Xbox dies tomorrow, I'll want to change my vote to a 360 Slim.

3DS. For the sole reason that unlike the other two gimmicky things, it's actually got good games. I don't mind 3D when used well. 360 Slim looks fine, but I'm a PC gamer, mostly, and Kinect and Move can kindly shuffle away and die for all I care.
Why does this guy always steal my lines?
Anyway...
OT: I would go for a PS3(although it's not on the list) because before the 3DS, I'm willing to try out console gaming(nothing gimmicky things like Move or Kinect, just the average PS3 exclusives). Then, when I'm gonna be rich(hopefully) and travel a lot, I'm gonna get the 3DS(hopefully till then it's price will drop consistently)

None of them are that interesting to me, but if I "had to choose" it would probably be a Nintendo 3DS.

Eh. I suppose when my Xbox inevitably joins the choir invisible I'll replace it with a Slim. I might look into the 3DS when tax refund time comes around next year. Nothing I "can't wait" for.
The early demos for Natal (I fear change: I only stopped calling the Wii the Revolution this year) looked interesting, but I'm starting to think that was just Molyneux's damnably infectious enthusiasm. It just looks goofy and gimmicky now.

Probably Xbox 360 slim, my hard drive is gettin kinda full, but not really. If you can play DS games on the 3DS (I know that's probably a stupid question) than it should be good. The other two are gimmicks who I won't care about in 6 minutes.
As for games, I've had my eye on Doom II in the Xbox Live Arcade.

As a lot of people have said: None of the above. Come on Escapist, provide a full range of options!

Don't care about most of the options. Nintendo's let me down for years, so I'm not looking forward to it. Slim? Nah. not going to get it any time soon. Move? Well, maybe. Nata...Errr Kinect wins by default, barring something amazing from Move.

Yes it did, why is beyond me.

But fair point. Most people on this website probably already have a 360, which leaves the 3DS as the only one worth getting of the bunch.

The Technology for the 3DS is most interesting; If it works (well) then it could mean that in just a few years we can look forward to 3D gaming and TVs that don't cost the earth. But as for actually puchasing any of them I doubt very much I will bother. If I had to it would probably be a 360 slim with Kinect soley to play starwars.

Out of those all crappy gimmicky stupid (...) junk? Probably the DS, since I own none of the other consoles.
