I visit a couple different micro-brewery websites that require you to be 21 or over and some ask for your specific birth date, I just enter a random date every time, usually Jan. 1, 1900.

By the way, I'm 24 so I could just give them my actual birth date, but I hate the practice of age gates so I don't.

Yeah. Unless they give me age gates every fucking time. Then I just scroll down to like 1980 or something. Get it over with faster.

I must admit, I generally use my real age, except when I know I'd pass something anyway (as it's just easier to pick some random date). I don't use my real age when I know I should be able to pass, but won't be able to differing age rating localisations (for example, Mass Effect 2 is 15 in the UK but it's M by the ESRB) and entering my real age would cause it to lock me out even though I pass my own area's rating.

Though of course age gates don't work, it's all too easy to pass with just scrolling down the year column a bit further.

Most of the time I put my real age, esp. now. But after I found out that 17 (my real age when I made the X-Box Live account) restricted me from doing a bunch of shit, I started to up my age. But I'm 18 now so I don't think there should be a problem.

Since I'm "of age" I don't have to lie to get into websites and such. I also put my real d.o.b. in case it ever comes up as a needed thing I'd hate to have to remember if I used a real one or fake one (like, for instance, the recent AvP Battles contest.)

What's the worst thing about it? Demographic info collecting on the site that you plug the info into? Muh.

I will say, though, that when I shop at stores that ask my for my zipcode I always give them 96766, which is Lihue, HI (on the island of Kauai, where I grew up) despite having not lived there for nearly 20 years. Let their demographics-folk chew on why I've come all the way from Hawaii to shop at Michaels in Tukwila, WA.

On forums and such, yes. On trailers and such, no. My parents know that I'm mature enough for stuff like violence in video games/movies, and I think they're more suited to decide than the Internet.

I'm old enough to view whatever I want, so I don't always bother. I only do when it's a site I care about, since I'm paranoid they might find out I'm lying if I make an account there.

Even though i'm 20 i never put my actul birth date in, why? Because if i simply change the year to 1970/80/90 it's far quicker than having to scroll through for the correct date.

Yeah, i'm lazy like that.

Sometimes - I'm old enough to get past any age gate (unless maybe I'm trying to get ultra porn [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149460/quotes?qt0479781]) and yet I still won't bother to put in my month and year. They don't need to know that to see if I'm over 18.

On forums, Steam etc. I always put in the correct date. However, if I'm just viewing a video/entering some random site (that of an 18-rated game for example,) I just put in something random that grants me access.

I have no reason to lie, I'm 24 and that lets me see anything without any problems.

I always do and considering I've just turned 30 today, I've got no reason not to.

The set of numbers which make up my date of birth is a little piece of uniqueness I'm proud of in a way, so I always put the correct date, even if it means using up my precious seconds before I watch a video on the internet.

I don't think I've every lied about my identity, and I can't think of a go reason to do so... plus using my correct date of birth when I've signed up to things has meant I've received some birthday e-mails to day, which are nice, especially the 10GBP voucher from EA (which is a lot better than Codemaster's 10% discount).

As long as it doesn't hinder me from accessing whatever it is I want to access, then yes I put in my real age.

If I'm dealing with people, yes. If I'm dealing with age gates, no, why would you? I am over 18 but I just select 1-1-less-than-1990 on every one for convenience.
